Brookfield Launches $600 Million Renewable Energy Platform in India

Brookfield launched a renewable energy platform named Lumara in India on 30 July 2026. The platform will deploy about $600 million for solar, wind, and battery storage projects, and it will begin with an initial portfolio of more than 6 GW of capacity.

Lumara and its investment structure

Lumara is being funded through Brookfield’s Catalytic Transition Fund. The platform is designed to support renewable energy development across India through project deployment in generation and storage assets.

Key features of the platform

Lumara will focus on solar power, wind power, and battery storage, which are three major segments of the renewable energy sector. The platform will also address delays linked to power purchase agreement negotiations, grid connection queues, and land acquisition timelines.

Brookfield’s energy presence in India

Brookfield already has about 45 GW of wind and solar assets in operation and in the pipeline in India. Its total investments in India have crossed $32 billion across multiple sectors as of 30 July 2026.

Important Facts for Exams
