Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP)
Conceived in 1983 under the leadership of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the IGMDP established indigenous missile manufacturing capabilities. The program developed five primary missile platforms:
- Prithvi: Short-range surface-to-surface ballistic missile.
- Agni: Intermediate-range and intercontinental ballistic missile family.
- Trishul: Short-range surface-to-air missile.
- Akash: Medium-range surface-to-air missile system utilizing ramjet propulsion.
- Nag: Third-generation fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile (ATGM).
