Union Tourism Minister, G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the first Incredible India International Cruise Conference (IIICC) in Mumbai.
He also invited domestic and international tourists to ‘Come, Cruise in India.’ It was jointly organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the Government of India and FICCI. Eight Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the conference.

Notes:
The Chittagong or Chhatogram port is one of the important seaports of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina offered India to use the Chittagong Port when External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met her Dhaka.
Due to the sea port’s close proximity, the port facility has the potential to boost economic activity in the North-East Indian states including Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram, as it provides close access to global shipping lanes.

World No.1 Iga Swiatek won her fifth consecutive WTA Tour title, defeating No.7 player in straight sets to win the Italian Open 2022.
The 20-year-old Polish star is just the second player to ever win four or more WTA 1000 titles in a single season after Serena Williams (5) in 2013. Novak Djokovic scored a straight-set victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas to win the 2022 Italian Open men’s title and his first ATP Tour title of the season.

The World Economic Forum said 100 new startups, including five from India, have joined its Technology Pioneers Community.
The start-ups include entities from healthcare and financial services to the metaverse.  World Economic Forum released the 2022 cohort of Technology Pioneers ahead of its annual meeting in Davos. The five Indian entities include Vahan, SmartCoin Financials, Proeon, Pandocorp and Recykal.

Notes:
The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to declare 16 May as the International Day of Living Together in Peace in 2017.
The Day aims to urge people to live together in a united and peaceful way. The year 2000 was recognised as ‘The International Year for a Culture of Peace’ and the UN declared the decade from 2001 to 2010 as the “International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for Children of the World.”
