CENTCOM Announces Falcon Strike Drone Task Force

United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Task Force Falcon Strike on 13 August 2026 as its first multinational, multi-domain attack drone task force for operations in West Asia. The unit is designed around low-cost, one-way attack drones and includes unmanned systems operating above, on, and below the sea.

Task Force Structure

Task Force Falcon Strike will have an integrated staff of American and regional military representatives. Personnel from United States Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT) will lead the task force staff, and CENTCOM has begun consultations with Middle Eastern partners for participation.

Multi-domain Drone Operations

Multi-domain operations in military usage cover air, surface, and subsurface environments. The Falcon Strike concept includes unmanned systems that can operate in all three environments, and the attack profile uses expendable drones commonly described as one-way attack or kamikaze drones.

Predecessor Unit and Operational Context

Task Force Falcon Strike follows Task Force Scorpion Strike, which was established in December 2025. Task Force Scorpion Strike carried out the first aerial attack drone launch from a United States Navy warship and conducted strikes on Iranian port facilities in July 2026.
