Andhra Pradesh Targets ₹9.5 Lakh Crore Investment in Visakhapatnam Region
The Andhra Pradesh government has set an investment target of up to ₹9.5 lakh crore for the Visakhapatnam Economic Region (VER). The plan covers eight districts and spans 36,000 sq km in north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas.
Visakhapatnam Economic Region
The Visakhapatnam Economic Region includes Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, East Godavari, Alluri Sitarama Raju, and Parvathipuram Manyam. The region is linked to the ‘Bay City’ project, which uses micro-level planning for regional development.
Sectoral Investment Plan
The investment framework for VER includes public sector investment of ₹3.5 lakh crore to ₹4 lakh crore and private sector investment of up to ₹5.3 lakh crore. The targeted sectors include AI data centres, port-related industries, tourism, hydrogen, clean-tech, energy, IT, agriculture, healthcare, urban development, infrastructure, and steel manufacturing.
Economic and Employment Targets
The state government projects a $120 billion economy for the VER by 2032. The same target year includes an employment estimate of 20 lakh to 24 lakh jobs.
