Uttarakhand’s disaster management model received recognition at the second technical meeting of the BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group in Puri, Odisha, from 3 to 5 June 2026. The meeting was held under India’s presidency and included officials, technical experts, and policymakers from 11 BRICS member and partner countries.
BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group
The BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group is a technical platform under the BRICS grouping that deals with disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and risk reduction.
