Uttar Pradesh, Yamanashi Announce ₹600-Crore MSME Fund

Uttar Pradesh and Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture signed multiple Memoranda of Understanding on 21 August 2026 at the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in Lucknow. The event was held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan and included a ₹600-crore fund for Yamanashi-based Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises investing in Uttar Pradesh.

Investment Facilitation Framework

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a dedicated Yamanashi Desk at Invest UP for investor coordination and approval support. The state and the prefecture also agreed to a 90-day review mechanism for monitoring land allotments and resolving investment-related issues.

Areas Covered Under the MoUs

Four MoUs were exchanged between Uttar Pradesh and Japanese entities for technical training, skills development, tourism, and Japanese Global Capability Centres in Noida and Greater Noida. One MoU was signed between Invest UP and the Technical Training & Research Centre in Kanpur for workforce development and placement linkages.

Tourism and Legislative Cooperation

The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department signed an MoU with Japanese partners to promote Buddhist-based tourism and related investments in the state. A separate MoU on legislative cooperation was signed by Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana and Yamanashi Prefectural Assembly Chairman Hidenori Miyamoto.

Japan-India Business Networking Event

The UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 was also referred to as the Japan-India Business Networking Event. The meeting was organised in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.
