On 29 October 2026, the Tamil Nadu Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, approved incentives for eight industrial projects involving ₹3,767 crore and projected to create 4,853 jobs. Energy and Law Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar briefed the media after the meeting.
Industrial investment and expansion
The projects are planned across Coimbatore, Krishnagiri, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Erode districts. They cover sectors including technical textiles, aerospace and defence, life sciences, and electronics. The Cabinet also approved expansion plans for three companies. Company names and district-wise investment and employment figures were not disclosed.
Social Justice Survey
The Cabinet separately approved a proposal for a multi-member commission, headed by a retired High Court judge, to conduct a state-wide Social Justice Survey. The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam had made the survey a key promise ahead of the 2026 Assembly election; the Governor’s inaugural address to the State Assembly also referred to it. The commission is expected to be constituted by February or March 2027, with the survey to follow completion of the ongoing Census.
