Jammu and Kashmir is hosting its first-ever International Indian Style Wrestling (Dangal) event along with the Rustam-e-Jammu Kashmir Title 2025. The event is taking place at the Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu, and started on December 20, 2025. More than 100 national and international wrestling stars are participating in the competition. Wrestlers will compete for the Rustam-e-Jammu Kashmir Title 2025. This marks a major milestone in promoting traditional Indian wrestling in the region.

Josh Tongue became the first England bowler this century to take a five-wicket haul in a men’s Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). He claimed figures of 5/45 during Australia’s first innings of 152 all out in the Boxing Day Test. Tongue’s effort ended a 27-year gap since Darren Gough and Dean Headley last achieved a five-for at the MCG in 1998. This was Tongue’s best Test bowling performance, surpassing his previous best of 5/66 against Ireland at Lord’s in 2023. Indian tennis player Vaidehi Chaudhary won the Women’s Singles title at the W35 Solapur Tennis Tournament in Maharashtra. The 25-year-old, seeded sixth, defeated Japan’s Michika Ozeki in a three-set final, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, after losing the first set. In the semifinals, Vaidehi defeated national champion Vaishnavi Adkar to reach the final. This victory is her fourth career International Tennis Federation (ITF) singles title and her first since June 2024, when she won the W35 Taipei Formosa Cup in Chinese Taipei.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 72nd National Volleyball Tournament via video conferencing. The inaugural ceremony took place at Dr. Sampoorna­nand Sports Stadium in Varanasi. Anahat Singh, India’s top-seeded squash player, won the silver medal in the women’s U-19 final at the British Junior Open Squash Championships. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) launched the National Olympic Education and Development Programme (NOEDP) and reactivated the National Olympic Academy (NOA) to strengthen India’s Olympic movement. The decisions were approved in January meetings held in Ahmedabad. NOEDP is a national framework for structured Olympic education and development across all levels of sport. It will be implemented with National Sports Federations (NSFs) and State Olympic Associations (SOAs). The NOA will serve as the central institution for Olympic education, research, and athlete development. It will support athletes in education, leadership, values, and career transition.
