The FIDE Chess World Cup 2025 will be held in Goa from October 31 to November 17, returning to India after 23 years. Around 206 players from 82 countries will compete for $2 million in prize money. On 2nd November 2025, India’s Women’s Cricket Team won its first-ever ICC Women’s ODI World Cup title, defeating South Africa by 52 runs at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. The ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 was held from September 30 to November 2, 2025. Shefali Verma (21 years) was named Player of the Match. Deepti Sharma became Player of the Tournament.

In November 2025, world champion para-archer Sheetal Devi became the first Indian athlete selected to represent the country in an able-bodied international competition. She will compete in the compound archery event at the Asia Cup 2025 Stage 3, scheduled in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from December 9–16, 2025. Sheetal, born with phocomelia, a condition that left her without arms, shoots from a seated position. She earned her place in the 16-member Indian archery squad after finishing third overall in national trials at the SAI Centre, Sonepat.

International Cricket Council (ICC) launched a new eight-team global event called the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy after the success of the Women’s World Cup in India. The inaugural edition will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 20–30 November as part of a new three-tier development pathway to boost women’s cricket. The competing teams are Thailand, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, UAE, Scotland, Namibia, Tanzania, and Uganda. The recent Women’s ODI World Cup saw India win its maiden title, drawing 500 million viewers and record stadium attendance.

India concluded their debut campaign at the World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh with 9 gold medals. Indian women boxers won 7 golds: Jaismine Lamboria (57 kg), Nikhat Zareen (51 kg), Parveen Hooda (60 kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70 kg), Preeti Pawar (54 kg), Minakshi Hooda (48 kg), Nupur Sheoran (80+ kg). Indian men boxers won 2 golds: Sachin Siwach (60 kg) and Hitesh Gulia (70 kg). Jammu & Kashmir is hosting the 69th National School Games Under-19 Table Tennis Tournament. Around 400 players from 34 States, Union Territories, and organisations across India are participating. Ahmedabad has been formally awarded the hosting rights of the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The decision was approved by delegates from 74 Commonwealth nations at the General Assembly in Glasgow, United Kingdom. This will be the second time India hosts the Games, after New Delhi in 2010, and supports India’s ambition to host the Olympics in 2036. Ahmedabad has upgraded sports infrastructure and the 2030 Games will feature 15–17 sports, celebrating Commonwealth sporting tradition.

India won the silver medal in hockey at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025 in Ipoh, Malaysia. Belgium defeated India 1-0, with Thibeau Stockbroekx scoring the only goal. This was Belgium’s first trophy in their second appearance at the tournament. India returned after a six-year gap and finished as runners-up for the second consecutive time, having lost the 2019 final to Republic of Korea. India, with five titles, remains the second-most successful team, after Australia who have 10 wins.

The 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA 2025) has begun in Bangkok and Chonburi province, Thailand, with the Opening Ceremony at Rajamangala National Stadium. Thailand is hosting over 13,000 athletes from 11 Southeast Asian nations: Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, Vietnam, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Brunei Darussalam, and Timor-Leste. Athletes will compete in 50 medal sports, including Olympic disciplines as well as traditional regional sports. The event highlights regional sporting excellence, cultural exchange, and collaboration among Southeast Asian countries.
