Pooja won silver in the high jump. Tajinderpal Singh Toor secured silver in the shot put. Ancy Sojan claimed bronze in the long jump. Aadrash Ram Jothi Shankar won bronze in High Jump.

Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar won gold in men’s 50 metre Rifle 3 Positions at Asian Shooting Championships 2026 in New Delhi with a world record score of 362.0. The event was held at Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range and he successfully defended his title. India achieved a clean sweep as Niraj Kumar won silver with 361.8 and Akhil Sheoran secured bronze with 343.5. The Indian team of Aishwary, Niraj and Akhil also won team gold, while Japan and Kazakhstan took silver and bronze. In junior category, Adriyan Karmakar won gold with 353.2 score.

India emerged as the overall champion at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship 2026 held in New Delhi, topping the medal tally with a total of 94 medals, including 51 gold, 23 silver, and 20 bronze. On the final day of the championship, Indian shooters added 6 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals, further strengthening their dominant position in the continent. India’s Pramod Bhagat won the men’s SL3 gold medal at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Para World Championships held in Bahrain. He defeated Indonesia’s Muhammad Al Imran in straight games 21-12, 21-18 in the final. The 37 year old secured his fourth consecutive singles gold at the World Championships. He has now won six overall world titles in the SL3 category. With this achievement, he surpassed Lin Dan, who had won five men’s singles world titles. Bhagat has become the most decorated singles champion in World Championship history across badminton categories.

6th National Rafting Championship titled The Ultimate River Battle begins at Shibnote in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. Event is organised by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department with Doda District Administration. It is being held on the Chenab River known for challenging rapids and scenic landscape. Championship aims to showcase top rafting talent and promote adventure and eco tourism. It will test endurance, teamwork and river navigation skills over four days. The event is expected to boost local economy and position Jammu and Kashmir as a major adventure tourism hub.

India topped the medal table at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2026 – New Delhi leg held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. India won 208 medals – 75 gold, 69 silver, and 64 bronze in the three-day competition. Russia finished second with 35 medals, while Bosnia and Herzegovina placed third with three medals. The event featured 257 athletes from eight countries and served as preparation for the 2026 World Para Athletics Championships and the 2028 Summer Paralympics.

Mayank Chakraborty, a 16-year-old from Assam, became the first-ever Grandmaster (GM) from Northeast India and India’s 94th Grandmaster in March 2026. He secured his third and final GM norm at an international tournament in Stockholm, thereby fulfilling all criteria set by FIDE.
