Recently, sportspersons from Uttar Pradesh Police won the highest number of medals for India at the World Police and Fire Games 2025 held in Alabama, USA. The global event witnessed participation from police and fire personnel representing 63 countries. India ranked third in the overall medal tally with a total of 560 medals. Uttar Pradesh Police athletes secured 95 medals, including 45 gold, 34 silver, and 16 bronze. The medals were won in events like athletics, wrestling, shooting, weightlifting, and swimming.

Recently, Manipur won the Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for the Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy (Tier 1) after 25 years. They defeated defending champions West Bengal 3-0 in the final on July 30, 2025, at Guru Nanak Dev University Sports Complex. The Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for the Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy 2025–26 was held in Amritsar, Punjab. This tournament is also known as the B.C. Roy Trophy. It is an Indian football competition for under-15 boys representing different states. It aims to promote young football talent across India at the grassroots level.

Boxing Federation of India (BFI) announced that the 4th Sub-Junior Under-15 Boys and Girls National Boxing Championships is scheduled to take place from August 7 to 13 in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The championship will feature more than 700 young boxers, including 400 boys and 300 girls aged 13–14 years, competing in 15 weight categories. In the recent Asian U-15 and U-17 Championships, Indian boxers won 43 medals and secured second place overall.

Recently, Ramesh Budhial became the first Indian to win a medal in the Asian Surfing Championships, clinching bronze in the Open Men’s category in Chennai with 12.60 points. Jharkhand Women’s Hockey Team won the 15th Junior National Women’s Hockey Championship for the second consecutive year by defeating Hockey Haryana 2-1 in the finals. The championship was held in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, from August 1-12, 2025. Sweety Dungdung and Shanti Kimari scored for Jharkhand in the 10th and 12th minutes. The 17-year-old scored 241.3 in the final, surpassing compatriot Dev Pratap, 14 years old, who shot 238.6 to win silver. India ended Day One with two gold and three silver medals. Kapil Bainsla from Palwal, Haryana, won gold in the junior men’s air pistol with a score of 243.0. Uzbekistan’s Ilkhombek Obidjonov secured silver, while Jonathan Gavin Antony of India won bronze with 220.7. Cheteshwar Pujara, India’s Test specialist, announced retirement from all forms of cricket on August 24, 2025. The 37-year-old last played a Test over two years ago, with his final First Class match being Saurashtra’s Ranji Trophy quarterfinal loss in February 2025. He played 103 Test matches for India, scoring 7195 runs at an average of 43.60, with 19 hundreds and 35 fifties.
