In 2025, nine-year-old Arshi Gupta of Delhi Public School, Faridabad, became the first-ever female to win a National Karting Championship in India. She competed in the Micro Max class (8–12 years) in a mixed grid of boys and girls at the FMSCI National Karting Championship held at Meco Kartopia, Bengaluru. Arshi won both the Pre-Final and Final races, charging from mid-grid in the Pre-Final and converting pole position to victory in the Final. Born on October 18, 2016, she races under Leapfrog Racing and became the youngest national karting champion in the 21-year history of the Indian Rotax series.

India’s Under-19 cricket team will start their 2026 ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup campaign against the United States on January 15 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The tournament will be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia from January 15 to February 6 with 16 teams playing 41 matches. India is placed in Group A with the USA, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, playing all group matches at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo.

Davis Cup means the World-wide International Men’s Tennis Team Championship. Matteo Berrettini won the first singles match by defeating Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3 6-4. Flavio Cobolli won the second singles match by defeating Jaume Munar 1-6 7-6(5) 7-5. Italy secured three consecutive titles in 2023, 2024 and 2025, along with its first title in 1976. Italy became the first team after the United States to achieve three back-to-back Davis Cup championships.

Armand Duplantis (Sweden) and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (USA) were named World Athletes of the Year 2025 at the World Athletics Awards. Duplantis broke the men’s pole vault world record four times and won all 16 competitions, including indoor and outdoor world titles. He is the first male pole vaulter in modern athletics to remain undefeated in a single event for two consecutive years. McLaughlin-Levrone won the women’s 400 metre title in Tokyo in 47.78 seconds, breaking a 42-year-old World Championships record. She is the first athlete to win world titles in both 400 metre flat and 400 metre hurdles.

Rajasthan United Football Club (FC) won the 41st All India Governor’s Gold Cup International Football Tournament 2025 at Paljor Stadium. They defeated Services Football Team (FT) 1-0 in the final, with Joseph Lalvenhima scoring the only goal. Joseph Lalvenhima was awarded Man of the Match, while Naoba Meitei of Rajasthan United was Man of the Tournament Rajasthan United received Rs 3 lakh, trophy, and medals; runners-up got Rs 2 lakh, trophy, and medals.

Indian Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi won the Jerusalem Masters 2025 title. He defeated former world champion Viswanathan Anand in an all-Indian final. The victory came through a blitz tie-break after their initial rapid games ended in a draw. In the semifinals, Arjun defeated Russian Grandmaster Peter Svidler. Anand reached the final by overcoming reigning World Blitz Champion Ian Nepomniachtchi.

Football Club Goa won the All India Football Federation Super Cup 2025-26, defeating East Bengal Football Club 6-5 in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in extra time at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda. This was the first final of the All India Football Federation Super Cup to be decided by a penalty shootout, as both teams were unable to score during regulation and extra time. In the penalty shootout, Football Club Goa converted all but one attempt, while East Bengal Football Club missed two, giving Goa the victory in sudden-death penalties. The victory also secured Football Club Goa’s qualification for the 2026-27 Asian Football Confederation Champions League Two play-offs.
