Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled the logo, mascot, and trophy of the 12th Men’s Asia Cup Hockey Championship in Patna. Bihar is hosting the tournament for the first time at Rajgir International Stadium, from 29th August to 7th September 2025. The mascot “Chand,” inspired by the tiger and hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, symbolises courage, agility, and skill. The tournament begins on 29th August, National Sports Day, marking Dhyan Chand’s birth anniversary.

North East United Football Club (FC) retained the Durand Cup title 2025. The final was held at Yuva Bharati Krirangan, Kolkata. North East United FC defeated Dimond Harbour FC with a 6-1 scoreline. Parthib Gogoi and Asheer Akhtar scored early goals to make it 2-0 by half-time. Other goals for North East United FC were scored by Alaaeddine Ajaraie, Andy, Thoi Singh, and Jairo Samperio. The victory highlights North East United FC’s dominance in Indian football tournaments.

India’s Chikitha Taniparthi became the first Indian female compound archer to win the Individual Junior World title. She won the Under-21 (U21) women’s gold medal at the World Youth Archery Championships in Canada. Chikitha defeated Korea’s Yerin Park 142-136 in the final match. In the Under-18 (U18) category, Prithika Pradeep won silver after losing 140-143 to Savannah O’Donnohue of the USA.

New Delhi will host the Badminton World Championships in August 2026. Announcement made by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Championships in Paris. The championships return to India after 17 years and to Asia after four years. The event was last held in India in Hyderabad, 2009. India has a strong medal history at the Championships. PV Sindhu is India’s most successful player with five medals: one gold, two silver, and two bronze. Other Indian medalists include Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, H S Prannoy, Prakash Padukone, Jwala Gutta, and Ashwini Ponappa.

The mascot is named ‘Jalveer,’ symbolizing water sports and aquatic spirit. The championship will serve as a qualification event for the 2026 Asian Games. India won the Asia Cup Hockey 2025 beating South Korea 4-1 in the final. This is India’s fourth Asia Cup title and first in eight years. The win also secured India’s spot in the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup in Netherlands and Belgium. Malaysia beat China 4-1 for third place. The Asia Cup Hockey 2025 was held from August 29 to September 7 in Rajgir, Bihar.

India will host the 28th International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) – Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) Asian Table Tennis Team Championships 2025 in Bhubaneswar from 11–15 October. The event will feature men’s and women’s team competitions. It will serve as a qualifier for the 2026 ITTF World Team Championships, with top 13 teams from each category earning spots. This is the first-ever Asian-level table tennis event in Odisha. Odisha earlier hosted the 2019 Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships and is known as India’s sports capital.

Carlos Alcaraz won the men’s singles title at the United States (US) Open Tennis Championships 2025, also called the US Open 2025, by defeating Jannik Sinner 6–2, 3–6, 6–1, 6–4. This is his second US Open crown and sixth Grand Slam title overall. With six Majors, Alcaraz now equals Boris Becker and Stefan Edberg’s record. Jannik Sinner, the top seed and defending champion, lost his fifth consecutive Grand Slam final. With this win, Alcaraz regains the World No. 1 ranking.
