India’s Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan won gold in the 10 metre air rifle mixed team event at the Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship 2026 in New Delhi. The Indian pair set a new world record and championship record by scoring 505 points in the final. They successfully defended their Asian title with this performance. Republic of Korea’s Kim Woorim and Kwon Eunji won silver with 501 points. Japan’s Naoya Okada and Misaki Nobata secured bronze with 437.9 points. The previous world record of 502.7 was set by a German pair at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Grand Prix in Slovenia.

Argentine tennis player Tomas Martin Etcheverry won his maiden ATP Tour title by clinching the Rio Open (ATP 500) title in Brazil. He defeated Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo in the final with a scoreline of 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-4 to secure the biggest title of his career. This triumph marked Etcheverry’s first ATP crown after finishing runner-up in three previous tour-level finals. The Indian Army defended its team championship title at the 6th edition of the Khelo India Winter Games, winning a total of nine gold medals, including eight in the Gulmarg leg. Himachal Pradesh finished as runners-up after securing four gold medals on the final day of competition. The closing ceremony of KIWG 2026 was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and managed by the Sports Authority of India at the Golf Course in Gulmarg. The event featured 257 athletes from eight countries and served as preparation for the 2026 World Para Athletics Championships and the 2028 Summer Paralympics.

The medal tally included 1 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze, showcasing strong performance by young boxers. Chandrika Pujari was the star performer, winning gold in the women’s 51 kg category. She defeated Mardonova Nazokat of Uzbekistan in the final. The victory came through a unanimous decision, reflecting her dominance in the bout. Her performance highlighted excellent technical skills and control throughout the match. The event featured top emerging boxing talents from across the world.
