India’s Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan won gold in the 10 metre air rifle mixed team event at the Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship 2026 in New Delhi. The Indian pair set a new world record and championship record by scoring 505 points in the final. They successfully defended their Asian title with this performance. Republic of Korea’s Kim Woorim and Kwon Eunji won silver with 501 points. Japan’s Naoya Okada and Misaki Nobata secured bronze with 437.9 points. The previous world record of 502.7 was set by a German pair at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Grand Prix in Slovenia.

Services won the 79th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy. The final was played at Dhakuakhana Stadium in Assam. Services defeated Kerala by 1–0 in a closely fought match. The winning goal was scored in the 109th minute of extra time. Striker Abhishek Pawar scored from a cross delivered by Shubham Rana. This victory marked Services’ eighth Santosh Trophy title. Services had also defeated Kerala in the 2023–24 season final.

India emerged as the overall champion at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship 2026 held in New Delhi, topping the medal tally with a total of 94 medals, including 51 gold, 23 silver, and 20 bronze. On the final day of the championship, Indian shooters added 6 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals, further strengthening their dominant position in the continent. The overall performance highlighted India’s dominance in both individual and team events, with shooters excelling in precision, consistency, and competitive endurance across multiple disciplines.

The Football for Schools (F4S) initiative was highlighted at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal. The Football for Schools programme is an initiative of Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) 2026 will be held from March 25 to April 6 across Raipur, Jagdalpur, and Sarguja in Chhattisgarh. The Games will feature seven medal sports: athletics, football, hockey, weightlifting, archery, swimming, and wrestling; mallakhamb and kabaddi will be demonstration sports. The World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2026 is held in New Delhi from 11–13 March 2026. It is a major international para-sports event bringing together about more than 250 athletes from different countries. Athletes from India, Russia, Nepal, Bhutan, Hong Kong, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Egypt are participating. India has the largest contingent with about 219 athletes competing in multiple classifications. The event will feature high-level track and field competitions, promoting global participation in para athletics.

The centenary commemorates the 1926 Indian Army hockey tour to New Zealand, one of the earliest major sports engagements between the two countries. She defeated Mardonova Nazokat of Uzbekistan in the final. The victory came through a unanimous decision, reflecting her dominance in the bout.
