The 57th Senior National Kho-Kho Championship will be held in Puri, Odisha, from March 31 to April 4, 2025. The event will take place at the District Sports Complex, Puri. A total of 74 teams, including 30 state teams and institutional squads like Airport Authority, Railways, BSF, Maharashtra Police, and CISF, will compete. The championship is organized under the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI). The event marks a significant step in the rapid growth of Kho-Kho in India.

India will host the 11th Asian Swimming Championship at Naranpura Sports Complex, Ahmedabad. The Swimming Federation of India received approval from the Gujarat government and Asia Aquatics. The championship will take place from October 1 to 15. Events will include swimming, diving, artistic swimming, and water polo. Top swimmers from Japan and South Korea are expected to participate. This is the first time India is hosting the championship. The last international swimming event in India was the 10th Asian Age Group Championships in 2019.

B Sumeeth Reddy announced his retirement from professional badminton to focus on coaching. He was part of India’s silver medal-winning squad at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. In men’s doubles, he partnered with Manu Attri, reaching a career-high world ranking of 17. He won gold at the 2016 South Asian Games and qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics. His achievements include titles at the 2015 Mexico City Grand Prix and 2016 Canada Open. In mixed doubles, he partnered with top Indian players, finishing runner-up at the 2017 Syed Modi International.

India’s Nihal Sarin won the 2025 Tashkent Open Agzamov Memorial Chess title in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The 20-year-old Indian Grandmaster remained unbeaten, scoring 8 out of 10 points. He outperformed a strong field, including eight players rated above 2600 Elo. With this victory, Nihal gained 7.1 Elo rating points. His live rating now stands at 2694, bringing him close to the prestigious 2700 Elo mark.

Indian women’s hockey stalwart Vandana Katariya has announced her retirement from international hockey after a career spanning over 15 years. She played 320 international matches and scored 158 goals, making her the most-capped player in Indian women’s hockey history. Vandana made her senior team debut in 2009. She became the first and only Indian woman to score a hat-trick at the Olympics. She received the Arjuna Award in 2021 and the Padma Shri in 2022 for her contributions to Indian hockey. She received the Hockey India Dhanraj Pillay Award for Forward of the Year in 2021 and 2022.

India’s Hitesh Gulia won the gold medal in the men’s 70 kilogram category at the World Boxing Cup 2025 held in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. He fought in the red corner and defeated Odel Kamara of England in the final match. Indian boxer Abhinash Jamwal secured the silver medal in the men’s 65 kilogram category after losing to Yuri Reis of Brazil with a score of 0-5. Earlier, Manish Rathore won the bronze medal in the men’s 55 kilogram category, adding to India’s medal tally at the international tournament.

Hockey Punjab, led by Hardik Singh, won the 15th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship Trophy 2025 by defeating Hockey Madhya Pradesh 4-1 in the final. The final match of Division A was held on 15 April 2025 at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Jhansi, Madhya Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Hockey won the bronze medal by defeating Manipur Hockey 5-1. Hockey Punjab won their 5th title since the tournament began under Hockey India in 2011. The tournament was organised by Hockey India and held from 4 to 15 April 2025.

Manush Shah and Diya Chitale won the mixed doubles title at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender Tunis 2025. They are the second Indian pair to win the mixed title at a WTT Contender event since 2021. The event took place from 22-27 April 2025, in Tunis, Tunisia, with a prize money of USD 1 lakh. WTT Contender events help players earn points to qualify for higher-ranking WTT Series events. In the final, Manush and Diya defeated the Japanese pair of Sora Matsushima and Miwa Harimoto 3-2.

The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-19 Football Championship 2025 takes place in Yupia, Papum Pare District, Arunachal Pradesh from May 10, 2025. Six countries are taking part in the tournament, which aims to promote youth football in South Asia. Group A includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, and the Maldives, while Group B has India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. The championship runs until May 18, encouraging regional sportsmanship and football development among young players.

The Indian archery team performed excellently at the Archery World Cup 2025 Stage-2 held in Shanghai, China, from 6 to 11 May 2025. Ojas Deotale, Abhishek Verma, and Rishabh Yadav secured a gold in the men’s team compound event.
