Mumbai Indians set a target of 149 in 20 overs, with captain Harmanpreet Kaur scoring 66 runs. Nat Sciver-Brunt took three wickets, while Amelia Kerr claimed two to restrict Delhi Capitals to 141. Mumbai Indians finished second in the points table, defeated Gujarat Giants in the eliminator, and overcame Delhi Capitals in the final. This is Mumbai Indian’s second WPL title in three years.

India won both the Men’s and Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 in Wolverhampton, England. The Men’s team defeated England in the final with a score of 44-41. For the first time outside Asia, top kabaddi teams competed across West Midlands in Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall, and Wolverhampton. Manisha Bhanwala won India’s first gold medal since the 2021 edition at the Asian Wrestling Championship 2025 in Amman, Jordan. She secured gold in the women’s 62 kg category, defeating Korea’s Ok J Kim by 8-7. Antim Panghal won a bronze medal in the 53 kg category, defeating Taipei’s Meng H Hsieh by technical superiority without conceding a point. Indian wrestlers have won one gold, one silver, and six bronze medals, including two in Greco-Roman wrestling.

Indian women’s hockey stalwart Vandana Katariya has announced her retirement from international hockey after a career spanning over 15 years. She played 320 international matches and scored 158 goals, making her the most-capped player in Indian women’s hockey history. Vandana made her senior team debut in 2009. She became the first and only Indian woman to score a hat-trick at the Olympics. She received the Arjuna Award in 2021 and the Padma Shri in 2022 for her contributions to Indian hockey. She received the Hockey India Dhanraj Pillay Award for Forward of the Year in 2021 and 2022.

India’s Hitesh Gulia won the gold medal in the men’s 70 kilogram category at the World Boxing Cup 2025 held in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. He fought in the red corner and defeated Odel Kamara of England in the final match. Indian boxer Abhinash Jamwal secured the silver medal in the men’s 65 kilogram category after losing to Yuri Reis of Brazil with a score of 0-5. Earlier, Manish Rathore won the bronze medal in the men’s 55 kilogram category, adding to India’s medal tally at the international tournament.

Former Indian basketball captain Hari Dutt Kapri passed away at the age of 83 at his residence. He was born in 1942 in Chiiriyakhan village, Muwani area, Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand. Kapri led the Indian basketball team from 1965 to 1978, helping it rise from 7th to 4th position in Asia in 1969. He was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 1969 for his outstanding contribution to Indian sports. He received a lifetime achievement award from the Uttarakhand government. His mortal remains were cremated at Rameshwar Ghat.
