The Government of Pakistan has officially permitted India to transport 50,000 tonnes of wheat and life-saving medicines from India to Afghanistan, through the Wagah land border. This permission comes as a goodwill gesture to the Afghan.
India has offered to supply wheat and other essential items on humanitarian grounds to Afghanistan. But, with no flight operations to Afghanistan, the supply was not being carried out pending clearance from Pakistan.

US President Joe Biden proposed USD 1.8 billion to support free and open, and secure Indo-Pacific Region and the Indo-Pacific Strategy.
He also proposed USD 400 million for the Chinese Malign Influence Fund. The funds were announced as part of USD 773 billion annual Defence Budget, which prioritizes China as the Department’s pacing challenge.

The Naveen Patnaik government in Odisha will provide free 5 Kg rice per month to the beneficiaries under the State Food Security Scheme for one year. This was announced by the chief minister Naveen Patnaik on 3 January 2023.
