• Corbevax is the COVID 19 vaccine candidate, produced by Hyderabad based pharma company Biological E.
• Recently, the company has received the nod from Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for conducting two clinical trials of the vaccine.
• The company has also received approval from DGCI to conduct phase 2 and 3 trials on children aged 5 – 18.
• The company has received assistance form Government of India under the Mission COVID Suraksha for development of this vaccine.

Philanippon 2021 is the World Stamp Exhibition, held recently in Tokyo, Japan. This event is held every 10 years in Japan since 1971, to mark the founding of Postal service in Japan.
This year marked the 150th year anniversary of Japan’s postal service. The event showcased the vibrant history and culture created by Japan’s postal as well the future potential of the industry including delivery by robots and drones.

At the 11th India-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD), the Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak met virtually.

They signed a USD 1.2-billion package of public and private investment in green projects and renewable energy. A new Climate Finance Leadership Initiative (CFLI) India partnership has been agreed to mobilise private capital into sustainable infrastructure in India.

Walmart-owned digital payments firm PhonePe has launched PhonePe Pulse, India’s first interactive platform with data, insights and trends on digital payments in the country.

The website showcases more than 2000 crore transactions by consumers on an interactive map of India. PhonePe also launched the Pulse Report, which studies on the evolution of digital payments over the past 5 years with detailed geographical and category-specific trends. As per the report, over 300 million Indians from 19,000 pin codes now use digital payments.

On 3rd September, 2021, the 11th BRICS Trade Ministers Meeting was held in a virtual mode, under the chairmanship of India. The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal chaired the meeting and was attended by Trade and Economic Ministers of BRICS Countries.

India is chairing the BRICS 2021, under the theme BRICS@15: Intra BRICS Cooperation for Continuity, Consolidation and Consensus.

Union environment minister, Bhupendra Yadav has launched a portal called PRANA on September 7, 2021. PRANA Portal will be used to track the progress of the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) in order to comply with India’s commitment to ensure clean air and blue skies to everybody. This portal was launched on the occasion of ‘International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies’ in non-attainment cities (NAC). Non-attainment cities are those cities that failed to meet the National air quality standards in a five-year period.

Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh and Union Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Emergency Landing Facility on a National Highway in Rajasthan. This emergency landing facility has been constructed on the Satta-Gandhav stretch of National Highway (NH) 925A in Barmer, Rajasthan. This is the first time a National Highway will be used for emergency landing of IAF aircraft.

Coal India Ltd. (CIL), under the Ministry of Coal has signed a MoU with the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Assam for strengthening the health infrastructure at the Silchar Medical College & Hospital, Silchar, the only Medical College and Hospital in Barak Valley Region, Assam. In this new CSR initiative, CIL will contribute Rs. 5 crores towards setting up of an ICU facility and medical gas pipeline in the Silchar Medical College & Hospital which will benefit over 40 lakh people of the State.

India and Japan held their sixth Maritime Affairs Dialogue in a virtual format on September 9, 2021. The consultations involved exchanges on developments in the maritime security environment, regional cooperation activities and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
