Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the industries and mines department of government of Gujarat to help drive e-commerce exports in the state. As part of the MoU, Amazon will train and onboard MSMEs from the state on Amazon Global Selling, enabling them to sell their unique Made in India products to millions of Amazon customers across more than 200 countries and territories.

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, chaired the 13th BRICS Summit virtually on September 9, 2021. India chose the theme of the Summit as “BRICS@15: Intra-BRICS Cooperation for Continuity, Consolidation and Consensus”. The Summit was participated by all other BRICS Leaders namely, President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro, President of Russia Vladimir Putin President of China Xi Jinping and President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa. Under India’s chair ship, BRICS took several new initiatives, which includes First BRICS Digital Health Summit, First BRICS Ministerial Joint Statement on multilateral reforms, BRICS Counter-Terrorism Action Plan, Agreement on cooperation in field of remote-sensing satellites, Virtual BRICS vaccine Research & Development Centre, BRICS Alliance on Green Tourism etc.

India and Japan held their sixth Maritime Affairs Dialogue in a virtual format on September 9, 2021. The consultations involved exchanges on developments in the maritime security environment, regional cooperation activities and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the Indo-Pacific region.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd, (GRSE), a Miniratna (Category 1) defence PSU and a leading warship-building company, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Naval Group of France, a leader in the European maritime defence industry. The two firms will collaborate in the field of surface ships that will cater to the requirements of India and international naval forces. Under the administrative control of the defence ministry, GRSE primarily attends to the shipbuilding needs of the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard.

The release of three dreaded terrorists in exchange of hijacked Indian Airlines passengers in Afghanistan’s Kandahar in 1999 is the “worst capitulation” to terrorists in India’s modern history, says BJP MP Subramanian Swamy. He has come out with a book ‘Human Rights and Terrorism in India’ which traces how the combating of terrorism can be harmonised with human and fundamental rights within reasonable restrictions that is permitted by the Constitution and upheld by the Supreme Court.

Daniil Medvedev of Russia lifted his first Grand Slam trophy after beating Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the US Open men’s singles final at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. Djokovic missed two historic milestones, the calendar-year Grand Slam and a record 21st major title of his career.

The United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation is an initiative for the economic, social and political developments of the countries in the Southern region. South-South cooperation refers to the technical cooperation among developing countries in the Global South. Every year, this day is celebrated globally on September 12. The international day South-South Cooperation also highlights the efforts of the United Nations for cooperation among developing countries.

Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) has enabled the country’s first FASTag-based metro parking facility in partnership with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). As an acquiring bank for the parking facility at the Kashmere Gate metro station, PPBL will facilitate the processing of all FASTag based transactions for cars having a valid FASTag sticker, thus eliminating the hassle of stopping and paying cash at the counter.
