The Government of India would sign a tripartite “Karbi Peace Accord” between the Union Government, Government of Assam and representatives of Karbi outfits.

The Karbis are one of the major ethnic communities in the north eastern India, especially in Assam. Assam has a long history of violent activities by Karbis since the 1980s. Recently, 1,040 terrorists of five insurgent groups of this group have laid down arms at an event in Guwahati and have surrendered.

Indian Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessel INS Savitri arrived Chattogram harbour, Bangladesh, carrying two 960 LPM (Litres Per Minute) Medical Oxygen Plants (MOP) to support the ongoing efforts of the Bangladesh in tackling Covid-19.

The MOPs were developed and manufactured by DRDO in India. The ship is also scheduled to participate in a Maritime Partnership Exercise with BN ship on departure from the Chattogram port.

INS Hansa is an Indian Naval Air station located in the state of Goa. President of India and the Supreme Commander of Indian Armed Forces, presented the President’s Colour to Indian Naval Aviation at INS Hansa, Goa.

President Ram Nath Kovind is also set to attend the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of ‘INS Hansa’. The first Sea-land aircraft was acquired on in 1951 and INS Garuda was commissioned at Kochi in 1953. President’s Colour is presented to recognise the service rendered both during peace and combat.

At the Tokyo Paralympic Games, the Indian contingent finished with a total of 19 medals which includes 5 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze medals. Out of the total 162 countries, India was ranked at 24th position and 20th in terms of number of medals.

This year, India had sent the largest contingent of 54 para-athletes, who participated in 9 sporting disciplines. This is also the highest ever medal haul of India.

INS Tabar has undertaken a maritime partnership exercise with ENS Alexandria of the Egyptian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea. The exercise involved multiple activities covering a wide range of naval operations which included drills for transit through asymmetric threat environment, operations for interdicting suspect vessels at sea, communication procedures, joint development of maritime domain picture and replenishment at sea drills.

Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Parshottam Rupala, has chaired a review meeting with Uttar Pradesh State Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister. He reviewed the implementation of animal husbandry and dairy schemes in the state and also took stock of the proposals in respect of animal husbandry and dairying. The state has been advised to focus on creating rural Entrepreneurship and better livelihood opportunity for unemployed youth and livestock farmers and to further expand the existing Pashu Bima and to promote Kisan Credit card for livestock farmers.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has won the prestigious awards of CII ‘National Energy Leader’ and ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’ at the 22nd National Award ceremony for ‘Excellence in Energy Management’ organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – Green Business Centre (GBC) during the 22nd edition of ‘Energy Efficiency Summit’, Virtual Conference & Exposition on Energy Efficiency.

Bank of Baroda has topped the MeitY Digital Payment Scorecard for 2020-21 with a total of 86% marks on the scorecard. The scorecard ranks 44 banks (Public Sector Banks, Private Banks, Foreign Banks, Payments Banks, Small Finance Banks) on various parameters on the digital business.

Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Russia on cooperation in the field of Geosciences. MoU was signed between the Joint Stock Company Rosgeologia (State holding Company) of Russia and the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Ministry of Mines.

The plant, named Orca, after the Icelandic word “orka” meaning “energy”, consists of four units, each made up of two metal boxes, similar in appearance to the containers used for maritime transport. (Reuters File) 3 Reykjavik: The world’s largest plant designed to suck carbon dioxide out of the air and turning it into rock started running on Wednesday, the companies behind the plant said. The plant, named Orca, after the Icelandic word “orka” meaning “energy”, consists of four units, each made up of two metal boxes, similar in appearance to the containers used for maritime transport. Constructed by Switzerland’s Climeworks and Iceland’s Carbfix, when operating at capacity the plant will draw 4,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) out of the air every year.
