Notes:

• Indian shooter Avani Lekhara became the first Indian woman to win two Paralympic medals.
• She won the 50m Rifle 3 Position SH1 bronze to add to the Gold she had won earlier in the Games.
• The 19-year-old Lekhara had become the first Indian woman to win a Paralympic gold after she topped the 10m air rifle standing SH1 event.
• Joginder Singh Sodhi was the only Indian to win multiple medals in the same edition of the Games when he got one silver and two bronze medals in the 1984 Paralympics.

Notes:
The Government of India would sign a tripartite “Karbi Peace Accord” between the Union Government, Government of Assam and representatives of Karbi outfits.

The Karbis are one of the major ethnic communities in the north eastern India, especially in Assam. Assam has a long history of violent activities by Karbis since the 1980s. Recently, 1,040 terrorists of five insurgent groups of this group have laid down arms at an event in Guwahati and have surrendered.

Notes:
The state government of Arunachal Pradesh has launched 2 schemes named Atma Nirbhar Krishi Yojna and Atma Nirbhar Bagwani Yojna. AtmaNirbhar Krishi Yojna is an agri sector scheme while Atma Nirbhar Bagwani Yojna is a horticulture scheme.

The government has allocated a total sum of Rs. 120 crores for these two schemes, Rs.60 crores for each of the schemes.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued a stay order against the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) notification related to appointment of managing director/whole-time director in Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs), dated June 25th 2021.

This order was based on a petition, which argued that the co-operative is part of the State List in the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution and the powers to make legislation w.r.t cooperative Banks is vested with the state governments.

Every year, 5th September is observed as the International Day of Charity. This day was so chosen, in memory of the death anniversary of Mother Teresa. This day aims to bridge the gap between the rich and poor and to meet the SDGs by 2030.

The resolution in this regard was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in the year 2012, which was co-sponsored by 44 UN member nations.

5th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament is being held in Vienna on Sept 7th and 8th. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla reached Vienna to attend the 5th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament by the Austrian Parliament, Inter-Parliamentary Union and the United Nations. The two-day conference will begin on Sept 7. The World Conference of Speakers of Parliament is held regularly every five years with the goal to reinforce the Parliamentary dimension of global governance.

NITI Aayog and Gujarat University has signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) to Promote Cooperation in Agriculture. The SoI focuses on technical collaboration between the two institutions with the aim to strengthen knowledge-sharing and policy development in India. The SoI is expected to give a thrust to India’s efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Union environment minister, Bhupendra Yadav has launched a portal called PRANA on September 7, 2021. PRANA Portal will be used to track the progress of the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) in order to comply with India’s commitment to ensure clean air and blue skies to everybody. This portal was launched on the occasion of ‘International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies’ in non-attainment cities (NAC). Non-attainment cities are those cities that failed to meet the National air quality standards in a five-year period.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Fiserv Inc. Has partnered to launch a plug-and-play RuPay credit card stack named ‘nFiNi’. ‘nFiNi’ is a RuPay based Application Programming Interface platform to boost credit card based products in the country. The nFiNi platform will power RuPay cards (including National Common Mobility Card) by offering access to needed services through the NPCI network combined with FirstVisionTM cloud-based open API integrations from Fiserv.

Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R. K. Singh met Minister for Climate, Energy & Utilities of Denmark, Dan Jorgensen in New Delhi. It was highlighted that energy transition towards green is an important part of India’s policy. India has set a target of 450 Giga Watt of Renewable Energy capacity by 2030. Currently, India’s whole renewable energy portfolio is at 146 GWIndia is also looking towards making Ladakh, Andaman Nicobar Island and Lakshadweep Island green in energy and transport. Both the ministers jointly launched ‘Centre of Excellence on Offshore Wind’ under the Green Strategic Partnership.
