• The proposed Chennai-Vladivostok maritime corridor will promote tbe bilateral relationships together.

• Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh virtually launched the e-ILP platform for effective regulation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the state.
• The e-ILP platform aims to regulate the entry, exit and tracking of visitors who are overstaying beyond the permitted duration.
• The ILP system came into effect in Manipur on January 1, 2020.
• ILP is a document that Indian citizens from other states are required to possess in order to enter states like Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland and Manipur.
• It aims to protect the local populations from large-scale migration.

• Google celebrated the 138th birthday of Polish inventor, doctor, and immunologist Rudolf Weigl with a doodle.
• He had produced the first-ever effective vaccine against one of the oldest and most infectious diseases, named ‘Epidemic typhus’.
• His work has been honored by two Nobel Prize nominations.
• Weigl adapted Body lice into a laboratory specimen. In 1936, Weigl’s vaccine successfully inoculated its first beneficiary.

Notes:
The Legislative Assembly of Odisha has passed the University of Health Sciences Bill 2021, recently. This bill seeks to bring all the medical and paramedical institutions of the state under a single University of Health Sciences.

Presently, various medical and paramedical institutions of the state are affiliated to different universities. This bill has been passed amidst strict opposition from various fronts.

 

Notes:
The total Forex Reserves of India has sharply risen to $633 billion in last week of August 2021. This is primarily on account of additional of 12.57 billion SDR allocation by IMF to India, equal to $17.86 billion.

India’s SDR allocation is in proportion to its IMF quota of 2.75%. Foreign currency assets, Gold, Special drawing rights and the reserve position with IMF are the components of Forex reserves of the Reserve Bank

Thailand Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha won votes of confidence in Parliament, which would help him to steady his government. The Government has been facing criticism in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Prayuth and his government had survived two other no-confidence debates since the 2019 general election. Pro-democracy activists have been opposing his policies have been seeking his resignation since last year.

Jammu & Kashmir LG has recently launched the ‘Tourist Village network’ to promote tourism and create sustainable employment for the youth.

This initiative is launched under the Mission Youth and will work towards focussing on the 75 villages in the UT that are already famous for their historical, scenic beauty and cultural importance. Under the scheme, the administration will recognise the uniqueness of each village and showcase the landscape.

INS Hansa is an Indian Naval Air station located in the state of Goa. President of India and the Supreme Commander of Indian Armed Forces, presented the President’s Colour to Indian Naval Aviation at INS Hansa, Goa.

President Ram Nath Kovind is also set to attend the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of ‘INS Hansa’. The first Sea-land aircraft was acquired on in 1951 and INS Garuda was commissioned at Kochi in 1953. President’s Colour is presented to recognise the service rendered both during peace and combat.

In a survey conducted by the Morning Consult, the Indian Prime Minister has obtained an approval rating of 70 per cent. The survey calculates the approval and disapproval rating of global leaders, based on a 7-day moving average of adults in each country, which is analysed by online interviews.

Indian PM’s approval rating is highest among 13 global leaders polled in the survey and is ahead of the heads of Mexico, Italy, Germany, UK etc.

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India GC Murmu has been elected as the Chairman of the Assembly of Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) from 2024-2027 with India set to host the 16th Assembly of ASOSAI in 2024.
