Notes:
U.S.-based not-for-profit entity Freedom House recently released a report on Internet freedom, a term that includes digital rights, freedom of information, and the right to Internet access.
As per the report, Internet Freedom has declined for the 11th year in a row worldwide. The greatest damaging effects were found in Myanmar, Belarus, and Uganda. China was ranked as the worst environment for Internet freedom for the seventh year in a row.

Notes:
Every year, the United Nations observe 23rd September as the International Day of Sign Languages, to support and protect the linguistic and cultural identity of sign language users. The theme for the year 2021 is “We Sign For Human Rights”.
This day was first celebrated in the year 2018 and a resolution in this regard was passed at the UN General Assembly in December 2017.

The Ladakh police, in association with the Cycling Federation of India has organised the second edition of Ultimate Ladakh Cycling Challenge. This has been organised under the “Fit India Movement” and “Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav”.
The event was flagged off by the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Anurag Thakur.

The first in-person meeting of Quad leaders was recently hosted by US President Joe Biden at Washington D.C. Prime Minister of India Modi and his counterparts Scott Morrison from Australia and Yoshihide Suga from Japan gathered in the city for the meeting.
In 2017, India, Japan, the US and Australia formed the alliance, named QUAD. It aimed to keep the critical sea routes in the Indo-Pacific free of any influence, especially from China. Before Quad summit, Prime Minister Modi separately met his Australian and Japanese counterparts.

World River Day is observed every year on the fourth Sunday of September, to raise awareness regarding water bodies and to promote their conservation.
This year, it falls on September 26. As per World Rivers Day, it is a celebration of the world’s waterways. This year’s theme is “waterways in our communities,” with a specific emphasis on the need to conserve and repair urban waterways, which are often under stress. Mark Angelo, a famous river environmentalist, is the founder and Chair of World Rivers Day.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam has bagged a silver medal in the women’s compound event at the ongoing World Archery Championship in Yankton.
She was defeated by world number three Sara Lopez of Colombia in the final clash. Earlier, the Indian women’s and mixed compound teams won silver medals in the World Championships. India women’s team comprised of Jyothi, Muskan Kirar and Priya Gurjar.

The National Institute of Biotic Stress Tolerance is a Deemed University under the ICAR is located at Raipur. This institution came into existence in 2012.
This institution is in news recently, as the new campus of the institution at Raipur was dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the event, the PM also dedicated 35 climate resilient crop varieties.

The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries in association with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched the Seed Capital Module on DAY NULM (National Urban Livelihoods Mission).
Using this portal / module, Self Help Groups (SHG) members can avail seed capital assistance of Rs.40,000 per member, under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme.

Ministry of Science & Technology launched the “AmritGrand Challenge Program” titled “JAN CARE”. The challenge aims to identify 75 Start-Up Innovations in Telemedicine, Digital Health, mHealth with BIG Data, AI, Block Chain and other technologies.
This was announced that Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC)’s 10th Biotech Innovators Meet in New Delhi with a theme- “Vigyan se Vikash”. BIRAC was set up by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) to enhance the Innovation capabilities of the Indian biotech industry, particularly Start-Ups.

The book titled “My Life in Full: Work, Family and our Future” has been written by Indra Nooyi, Indian American Executive, and the former Chairperson of Pepsico.
She has narrated her life experience of settling in America, negotiating the boardroom, balancing work and family. She has also touched upon the role which organisations play in working women’s lives.
