Notes:
The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is an international organization which conducts agricultural research for rural development. It is headquartered in Patancheru, Telangana in India, with several regional centers and research stations.
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and ICRISAT inked pact to take up research to improve food, nutrition security and livelihoods in the country, against the impacts of climate change.

Notes:
The National pension regulator – Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has proposed to celebrate October 1 as National Pension System (NPS) Diwas. This is a part of a campaign of PFRDA to promote pension and retirement planning. A campaign titled #npsdiwas is being promoted in social media.
PFRDA is a statutory and regulatory body under the Union Ministry of Finance, whose present chairperson is Supratim Bandyopadhyay.

Notes:
The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Kolkata and the Natural History Museum (NHM), signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Dr. Dhriti Banerjee, the first lady Director of ZSI signed the MoU.
Through this MoU, the institutions are committed to implement the 1973 Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Fauna (“CITES”), the 1992 Convention on Biological Diversity (“CBD”) and other national and regional laws and regulations concerning biodiversity.

Notes:
Jyothi Surekha Vennam has bagged a silver medal in the women’s compound event at the ongoing World Archery Championship in Yankton.
She was defeated by world number three Sara Lopez of Colombia in the final clash. Earlier, the Indian women’s and mixed compound teams won silver medals in the World Championships. India women’s team comprised of Jyothi, Muskan Kirar and Priya Gurjar.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur addressed the Summit for Information and Democracy on the sidelines of the UNGA organised in New York. He participated in the discussion, by joining from Leh, Ladakh.
The ‘International Partnership for Information and Democracy’ was launched in New York on 26 September 2019. It aims to promote freedom of opinion and expression and access to free, pluralistic and reliable information. The partnership has been signed by 43 States, till date.

Kerala has emerged as the fifth Asian Ecosystem in Affordable Talent in the 2021 Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER).
The report was prepared by Startup Genome and the Global Entrepreneurship Network and was globally launched recently. The 2021 Report, which ranks the top 140 ecosystems across the world, based on 7 parameters- performance, funding, connectedness, market reach, resource attraction, experience and talent.

An earthquake with a magnitude of at least 5.8 struck the Greek island of Crete recently, killing one person and injuring several people.
Greece’s Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry is evacuating the people in the affected areas.  Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has created the Academic Block-Chain Documents (ABCD) software.
CBSE has collaborated with the Centre of Excellence for Blockchain Technology of National Informatics Centre under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to create the software. It is a blockchain-based system to go paperless and deliver secure, transparent result certificates to students. In 2016, CBSE was the first to develop its own academic repository named ‘Parinam Manjusha’.

NIDHI 2.0 stands for ‘National Integrated Database of Hospitality Industry’. It was launched by the Union Ministry of Tourism to celebrate “World Tourism Day 2021” on 27th September 2021 in New Delhi.
The Ministry also launched ‘India Tourism Statistics – At a Glance, 2021’.  The theme of the World Tourism Day 2021 is “Tourism for Inclusive Growth”. A MoU was also be signed  between Ministry of Tourism, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Responsible Tourism Society of India (RTSOI)to promote ‘sustainability initiatives’ in the tourism sector.

The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries in association with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched the Seed Capital Module on DAY NULM (National Urban Livelihoods Mission).
Using this portal / module, Self Help Groups (SHG) members can avail seed capital assistance of Rs.40,000 per member, under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme.
