Notes:
Zee Entertainment Enterprises is set to be merged with Sony Pictures Networks India. A sum of $1.57 billion would be infused into the capital of the merged entity by Sony. The merged entity would be India’s largest entertainment network with more than 25% total viewership in India.
The shareholding pattern of the merged entity between Zee and Sony would be 47:53. Punit Goenka – the present CEO of Zee Entertainment, would be the MD CEO of the merged entity.

Notes:
The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has designed and developed indigenously, a charger for electric vehicles, named AC001. This is taken up for large scale manufacturing by Bharat Electronics.
Presently most of the charging components for electric vehicles are imported. The indigenous development and manufacturing of these components would boost electric mobility in India.

The National pension regulator – Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has proposed to celebrate October 1 as National Pension System (NPS) Diwas. This is a part of a campaign of PFRDA to promote pension and retirement planning. A campaign titled #npsdiwas is being promoted in social media.
PFRDA is a statutory and regulatory body under the Union Ministry of Finance, whose present chairperson is Supratim Bandyopadhyay.

Sensex breached the 60,000 mark for the first time ever recently, touching an important milestone. Because of that, Indian share markets witnessed volatile trading activity throughout the day
Nifty also reached closer to 18,000 mark. It took only eight months for Sensex to jump from 50,000 to 60,000-mark. The BSE index touched 50k in January this year. This is seen as an indicator of India’s growth potential.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, former United Nations under-secretary-general and executive director of UN Women, as the winner of the 2021 Global Goalkeeper Award.
Fairooz Faizah Beether of Bangladesh has been chosen for the 2021 Changemaker Award for her work promoting good health and well-being. The 2021 Progress Award recognizes Jenifer Colpas of Colombia for her work to improve access to clean water and sanitation. The 2021 Campaign Award, recognizes Satta Sheriff of Liberia for her work to promote gender equality.

The International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons is observed on September 26 every year. In December 2013, the General Assembly established the International Day as a follow-up to the General Assembly’s high-level conference on nuclear disarmament.
On this day, public awareness is created about the threat posed by nuclear armaments and the need for nuclear disarmament. The Humanitarian Pledge has now been signed by 127 governments across the world, indicating their support for the humanitarian initiative.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur addressed the Summit for Information and Democracy on the sidelines of the UNGA organised in New York. He participated in the discussion, by joining from Leh, Ladakh.
The ‘International Partnership for Information and Democracy’ was launched in New York on 26 September 2019. It aims to promote freedom of opinion and expression and access to free, pluralistic and reliable information. The partnership has been signed by 43 States, till date.

The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries in association with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched the Seed Capital Module on DAY NULM (National Urban Livelihoods Mission).
Using this portal / module, Self Help Groups (SHG) members can avail seed capital assistance of Rs.40,000 per member, under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme.

 

Notes:
India’s first toll-free helpline 14567 called ‘Elder Line’ was officially launched recently by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The Senior citizens can dial 14567 for information and guidance on legal, financial, health and social issues. It also aims to provide guidance, emotional support, and immediate assistance in cases of abuse. Already 17 States have opened the Elder Line and others are in the row.

Notes:
The National Commission for Women has launched a national level training and capacity building programme for women in the field of dairy farming, to make them financially independent.
For the training, the National Commission for Women has collaborated with many agricultural universities for rendering training in the fields of dairy farming and allied activities.
