Notes:
The Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL) has become the first-of-its-kind institute in the Union Territory of Ladakh to have an internet connection using Light Fidelity (LiFi) technology.

SECMOL is India’s highest altitude educational organisation. Li-Fi involves transmitting data with a light beam spectrum through open space, in outdoor and indoor environments. Li-Fi systems provide ultra-fast data connections.

Notes:
The UN food agency announced that 16 million people in Yemen “are marching towards starvation”. It also said that food rations for millions in the country will be cut in October unless new funding arrives.
A high-level meeting on Yemen’s humanitarian crisis was hosted recently by the European Union, along with Sweden and Switzerland. The meeting raised about 600 million, with the US pledging additional 290 million and the EU pledging additional 119 million euros (about 139 million). However, this still leaves 1 billion unfunded.

The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is an international organization which conducts agricultural research for rural development. It is headquartered in Patancheru, Telangana in India, with several regional centers and research stations.
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and ICRISAT inked pact to take up research to improve food, nutrition security and livelihoods in the country, against the impacts of climate change.

Notes:
Parshuram kund is a Hindu pilgrimage site, which is situated at Mishmi plateau in Arunachal Pradesh.
This place is seen in the news recently since the Union Tourism Minister – Shri. G Kishan Reddy has laid a foundation stone for development of this site, under the central Government’s PRASHAD scheme. The project is to be implemented at a cost of Rs 37.88 crores.

The Bangabandhu-Bapu digital exhibition was recently inaugurated for public viewing in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The exhibition showcases the lives of the father of the nation of Bangladesh- Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Mahatma Gandhi. The exhibition has been specially designed by the two governments to commemorate Mujib Boarsho, birth centenary of Bangabandhu and 150 years of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi and the golden jubilee of India-Bangladesh bilateral relations.

The Indian Council of Medical Research’s (ICMR) released the ‘Clinicopathological Profile of Cancers in India: A Report of the Hospital Based Cancer Registries, 2021’.
As per the report, the proportion of all cancer cases was higher in males (52.4%) than females (47.4%). Gynaecological cancers, including breast cancer, comprise over half of all cancers in females. Childhood (0-14 years) cancers constitute 7.9% of all cancers. It also highlighted the cancers of the head and neck region were at nearly one third (31.2%) of the cancers among males

The World Bank has proposed to fund the ambitious National Rail Plan over the next 30 years. India seeks fund around Rs 40 lakh crore, for 8,000 km of high-speed corridors and another 8,000 km of dedicated freight corridors (DFCs).
The National Rail Plan and the National Infrastructure Pipeline recommend a total of 13 bullet-train corridors across India, Currently, the high-speed railway line from Mumbai to Ahmedabad is being laid with loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Around 3,000 km of two DFCs are being laid with aid from the World Bank in the east and from JICA in the west.

India’s Mars Orbiter spacecraft has completed seven years in its orbit, beyond its designed mission life of six months.
MOM or called as Mangalyaan, it is the maiden interplanetary mission of ISRO. After being launched on November 5, 2013, the probe was successfully inserted into Martian orbit on September 24, 2014 in its first attempt.  ISRO has been continuously monitoring the spacecraft and its five scientific instruments. The spacecraft is expected to have a mission life of probably another one year.

Evergrande Group is China’s second-largest property developer in terms of sales. It is one of the Fortune 500 companies. It is incorporated in the Cayman Islands and headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China.
After several regulations are imposed on Chinese businesses by the Government including a strict cap on borrowings of companies, many companies were severely impacted. Evergrande was one of the worst affected as it has borrowed over 300 billion. Recently, its market cap is down to 4.9 billion, losing nearly 90 percent of its value.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry and Textiles Piyush Goyal announced that a Weaver Services and Design Resource Center will be set up in Kullu, in Himachal Pradesh.
It aims to encourage the handicraft products of Himachal Pradesh and provide a platform for export of these products in the international market. The handkerchief of Chamba, Kullu shawl and cap and the shawl of Kinnaur of the state were given G.I. Tags
