Veteran India sports administrator Randhir Singh has been appointed as acting president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) after incumbent Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah had to step aside after being found guilty of forgery by a Geneva Court. He had served as Secretary General of the OCA for 24 years from 1991 to 2015. The 72-year-old Mr. Singh, a five-time Olympian shooter, is currently an Honorary Life Vice-President of the OCA. He also served as the Secretary General of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) from 1987 to 2012 and was a full member of the International Olympic Committee from 2001 to 2014 before becoming its honorary member.

Fourteen districts of Chhattisgarh have signed MoUs with the Hyderabad-based Indian Institute of Millets Research to boost production of millets in their respective areas. These millets will be procured through Van Dhan societies of the Chhattisgarh Minor Forest Produce Co-operative Federation, and after processing, will be used in mid-day meal schemes, public distribution system and nutrition programmes. The 14 districts are Kanker, Kondagaon, Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur, Sukma, Narayanpur, Rajnandgaon, Kawardha, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Balrampur, Koriya, Surajpur and Jashpur.

Four-time winner on the European Tour, Jeev Milkha Singh has become the first professional golfer in the world to get the prestigious 10-year Dubai Golden Visa in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the sport.

Haryana has been adjudged first in the country in installation of off-grid solar pumps under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahaabhiyaan (PMKUSUM) with installation of 14,418 pumps against 15,000 sanctioned pumps for the year 2020-21.

Indian Navy and Sudanese Navy carried out a bilateral maritime exercise in the Red Sea off the Sudanese. INS Tabar and two Sudanese Navy ships- Almazz and Nimer- participated in this maiden exercise with the Indian Navy.

Aviation regulators European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have entered into a working arrangement to achieve common safety and environmental protection standards. Through this agreement, the aviation regulators of India and Europe hope to reduce the economic burden imposed on the aviation industry by redundant technical inspections, evaluations and testing.

The Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has jointly launched the Meghalaya Enterprise Architecture Project (MeghEA). The MeghEA initiative is divided into 6 pillars, namely governance, human resources, entrepreneurship, primary sector, infrastructure and environment, and aims to make Meghalaya a high-income state by 2030. The project aims to improve people’s service delivery and governance through the use of digital technology.

The Sikkim government has declared “Cooper Mahseer” which is locally named “Katley” as a state fish to emphasize the importance of the fish and emphasize its protection measures. “Neolissochilus Hexagonolepis” is the biological name of this fish.

The Department of Space (DoS) has partnered with the aerospace technology startup Agnikul Cosmos so that they can access ISRO facilities and know-how to develop and test space launch vehicle subsystems/systems. This agreement will also enable Agnikul which is based in the National Centre for Combustion R&D of IIT-Madras to use ISRO’s technical expertise to test and validate its launch vehicle systems and subsystems and run multiple tests and visit facilities at various ISRO centers.

Raja Rithvik from the state of Telangana has become India’s 70th Grand Master after crossing the ELO 2,500 mark at the Vezerkepzo GM Chess Championship which was held in Budapest, Hungary. The 17-year-old passed the mandatory ELO 2,500 mark and became the 70th grandmaster in India. After defeating the FIDE master Fennek Vaclav from Czechoslovakia, he scored 4 points.
