Recently, “Together for a Shared Future” was revealed as the official motto of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics by the organizing team. This motto represents the strength of the Olympic Games to overcome global challenges as a community, with a common future for humankind. The Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing, China from February 4 to 20, 2022.

”Elderline-14567” is a senior citizen’s national helpline which has been launched in Jammu and Kashmir by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. This helpline will serve as an important support system to comfort the distressed elderly in need through a dedicated decentralized call center, provide emotional care and support, health services and other assistance to the elderly in need through a dedicated decentralized call center.

On September 18, 2021 the International Equal Pay Day was celebrated. In all regions, women’s pay is lower than men’s, and the global gender pay gap is estimated to be 23%. The Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC) is led by the International Labour Organization, UN Women and partners. The goal of the alliance is to achieve equal pay for men and women everywhere.

Every year on September 18 the World Water Monitoring Day has been celebrated globally to increase public participation and awareness regarding water resources protection and monitoring around the world. “Valuing water” is the theme of World Water Day 2021.

The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has signed a model agreement with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited (CSC) to increase the income and business opportunities of various Fair Price Shops by providing CSC services to the interested Fair Price Shop (FPS) distributors.

Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, released Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)’s third state food safety index (SFSI) to measure the performance of states in five food safety parameters. In this year, Gujarat was the highest ranked state among the larger states, followed by Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Among the smaller states, Goa appeared first, followed by Meghalaya and Manipur. In UT, Jammu and Kashmir, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and New Delhi topped the list. 19 Mobile Food Testing Vans (Food Safety on Wheels) were also flagged off by the minister to supplement the national food safety ecosystem, bringing the total number of these mobile inspection vehicles to 109.

The annual ‘Crime India’ report is released by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). The report for the year 2020 was released recently.
As per the report, India recorded 1.20 lakh cases of “deaths due to negligence relating to road accidents” in 2020. Communal riots marked an increase of 96% in 2020 over the previous year. Offences against the State’, had a drop of 27% over 2019 but Uttar Pradesh was the only major state to record an increase in this category.

The Indian Navy, in association with the Indian Naval Sailing Association (INSA) has proposed to conduct a Sailing regattas and a Sail parade in all the three command headquarters. This is as a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
The first of the such event would be conducted in Indian Naval Watermanship Training Center, Kochi under which a team of 75 Naval personnel would participate.

Recently, the OECD has released India’s economic projections for the FY 2021-22, which has been estimated at 9.7%. It is 0.2% less than its earlier forecast. The economy of China has been forecasted to grow at 8.5 per cent in 2021.

The annual “Freedom on the Net” report was released by the US think-tank Freedom House. As per the report of this year’s edition, Iceland topped the ranking, followed by Estonia and Costa Rica, the world’s first country to declare internet access a human right.
The report also found that people had been arrested or convicted for their online activities in 56 out of the 70 countries covered by the report. Internet shutdowns in Myanmar and Belarus show that online rights declined globally for the 11th year in a row.
