The IUCN status of the “Humboldt Penguin” is “Vulnerable”. Humboldt Penguin is a South American penguin mainly housed in the Pinguino de Humbold National Reserve in Chile.

Eighty per cent of the world’s Humboldt Penguin population lives in the protected area of Chile. Mumbai’s Byculla Zoo has announced the addition of two new Humboldt penguin chicks this year. There are already seven adult Humboldt penguins at Byculla Zoo.

China is set to launch the Tianzhou-3 cargo spacecraft before the end of 2022. The Long March 7 rocket carrying the Tianzhou-3 cargo spacecraft was rolled out at the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center, South China.
Tianzhou-3 will mark the fourth of 11 missions for construction of China’s three-module space station, which is called Tiangong (“Heavenly Palace”).

The Government of India has constituted a 12-member National Steering Committee, under the chairmanship of K Kasturirangan, for formulating guidelines for changes in the CBSE / NCERT curriculum. The Committee has a term of three years. The document, called as the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), was last prepared in 2005.
Kasturirangan is the former Chief of ISRO and has also headed the committee that drafted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The World Health Organization (WHO) lowered acceptable thresholds for several pollutants, including ultrafine PM2.5 particles.
The average 24-hour exposure to PM2.5 must remain below 15µg/m³, down from 25µg/m³. In case of PM10 particles, the safe threshold is lowered from 50 to 45µg/m³. In terms of exposure over a year-long period, the threshold for PM2.5 is brought down from 10 to 5µg/m³ and for PM10, from 20 to 15µg/m³.

The Government of India has recently launched the “National single-window system for investors and businesses”. This portal is designed to act as a single point of contact for obtaining all approval and clearance for business enterprises and investors. This would enhance Ease of Doing Business, transparency, and accountability.
Presently, approvals across 18 central departments and nine states have been onboarded to the portal and another 14 departments would be onboarded by December 2021.

PM Jan Arogya Yojana (PM JAY) is the Government of India’s flagship scheme, launched on 23rd September 2018, with an aim to achieve universal health coverage. The scheme has successfully completed 3 years of operation.
Under this scheme, health cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization is provided to the more than 10 crore poor families.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India has recently brought the Patents (Amendment) Rules, 2021. Under the revised rules, the processing fee levied on educational institutions for filing patents has been reduced by 80%.
This move is aimed to encourage greater participation of the educational institutions in the innovation ecosystem in the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to announce a nationwide rollout of the Pradhan Mantri Digital Health Mission. It includes three basic platforms, health ID, doctor’s registry, and the health facility registry.
The unique digital health ID will contain all the health records of the person. The National Digital Health Mission is currently in its pilot phase across the UTs of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.
