International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is observed on September 16, every year. It is celebrated to spread awareness among people about the depletion of the Ozone Layer and search for possible solutions to preserve it. This year’s theme for the International Day for the Prevention of the Ozone Layer is ‘Montreal Protocol Keeping us, our food, and vaccines cool.’ The purpose of the Montreal Protocol is to protect the Ozone layer by reducing the production of substances that are supposed to be responsible for Ozone layer depletion.

Microsoft India has launched the Future Ready Talent programme, bringing together a strategic group of partners to empower India’s youth with technology skills for employability. It is a collaborative internship programme for students in their second year of college and upwards, the initiative aims to impact over 1.5 lakh higher education students who will join the workforce between 2022 and 2024. Under this programme, the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), FutureSkills Prime, Ernst & Young (EY), GitHub, and Quess Corp along with Microsoft will provide a holistic skilling platform, connecting talent to opportunity. Microsoft will provide learning modules and certifications through its learning platform, Microsoft Learn, skilling students on topics like cloud computing, data & Artificial Intelligence, and cyber security. AICTE will ensure the curriculum is aligned to the National Education Policy, 2020.

To make its range of tractors and farm equipment more accessible, Escorts Ltd has partnered with IndusInd Bank to provide financial solutions to farmers. IndusInd Bank will offer farmers easy access to financial assistance in the form of loans in a seamless manner.

Reserve Bank of India has given its approval to the Ujjivan Small Finance Bank (SFB) to form a special committee of directors so that they can oversee the operations in absence of a CEO and MD. This Special Committee of Directors will comprise of three independent directors as its members. This committee will oversee the operations and administration of the bank in effect from September 16.

Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) has partnered with Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) and Celltick, the worlds largest cell broadcast-based products provider and a global leader of Public Warning systems to launch India’s first cell broadcasting Public Warning systems (PWS). Andhra Pradesh became the first Indian state to implement Celltick’s cell broadcasting PWS.

Leading IT service provider Wipro announced the launch of Wipro-Google Cloud Innovation Arena in Bengaluru to accelerate the adoption of cloud services. This cloud collaboration space will provide in-house technical expertise, ensure seamless adoption of the cloud, and accelerate innovation to drive customer business transformation.

Singrauli based- Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL), a Coal India arm under the Ministry of Coal has announced to start 75 “Fulwari Centers” in the Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh.

This project ‘Fulwari’ aims to address the problem of malnutrition and associated physical and mental development problems of infants. Currently 25 centers are being operated successfully with the strength of around 220 kids of the age between 6 months to 3 years.

The Intergovernmental Group of 24 on International Monetary Affairs and Development, or the Group of 24 was established in 1971 at Lima, Peru. It is headquartered at Washington D.C. It is a chapter of G-77, to coordinate developing countries on monetary and development finance issues.
India, along with other Group of 24 (G24) member countries, has objected to the withdrawal of measures like the Equalisation levy (EL). India is worried that the proposed global digital tax deal covering only top 100 companies may not lead to sufficient revenue for developing countries.

‘Doing Business’ report was the flagship publication of the World Bank. After data irregularities were reported internally, on Doing Business reports of 2018 and 2020, World Bank management paused the next Doing Business report.
International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has also been cited by the World Bank in the probe. The World Bank is set to work on new approach to assess business and investment climate in countries.

The International Astronomical Union has named a crater at the Moon’s south pole after the Arctic explorer Matthew Henson.
In 1909, he was one of the first people to reach the geographic North Pole. The Henson Crater is located in the Moon’s South Pole between Sverdrup and de Gerlache craters. It is the same region where the Artemis program by the NASA aims to land the next generation of lunar explorers.
