Notes:
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath has launched a unified portal called ‘U-Rise’, to provide career counselling to students.
The portal aims to provide assistance to students in getting vocational and technical education. It also comprises e-content, e-library, and online courses, which can be accessed by students in the interior areas of the state.

Notes:
The Union Government has extended the suspension on initiating Insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings against firms for three more months.
The suspension will be effective till three months from September 25, as per a notification from the Corporate affairs Ministry. Initially, the proceedings were suspended for six months starting from March 25. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) has also been amended to include the provision.

Notes:
The United States has recently announced a USD 150 million (equivalent to Rs 1,100 crore), to invest in training for middle-to-high-skilled H-1B occupations.
The fund will be used to invest in key sectors in the American economy, including Information technology, cyber security, advanced manufacturing and transportation. The H-1B One Workforce grant would also be used to upskill the workforce.

Notes:
The President of Sri Lanka has ordered the termination of a USD 1.5 billion Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, funded by Japan.
The reason for the suspension is said to be the high cost of the project, which was the largest single foreign-funded infrastructure project in Sri Lanka. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) lent 30 billion yen (USD 285 million) to finance the first phase of the project.

Notes:
The acquisition of a controlling stake in Mumbai Airport by Adani Airport Holdings Limited from GVK Airport Developers Ltd has been approved by Competition Commission of India.
This approval has been given through “Green Channel”. The green channel route permits for automatic approval of acquisition deals subject to various conditions.

Notes:
The Medical Council of India (MCI) has been replaced by the National Medical Commission (NMC). NMC will serve as the nation’s apex regulator of medical education and profession.
With the NMC coming into existence, the Board of Governors has been dissolved. Also, the 64-year-old Indian Medical Council Act has been abolished.

Notes:
It is proposed to set up a Post-Harvest Management Centre for Medicinal Plants, at Bhaderwah in Jammu and Kashmir. The foundation stone for the construction has been laid recently.
The Post-Harvest Management Centre would have infrastructure for drying, sorting, processing, certification, packaging, and safe storage of herbal raw materials.

The Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has recently launched the final form of the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) – 2020.
The Defence Ministry had earlier approved the constitution of the Main Review Committee headed by the Director General (Acquisition) Apurva Chandra. The Committee was entrusted with the work of preparing the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP).

World Tourism Day is celebrated annually across the world on September 27 from 1980, on the day when the Statutes of the UNWTO were adopted.
The theme of the 2020 edition of World Tourism Day is “Tourism and Rural Development”. The official celebration is not hosted by a single Member State of the UN specialized agency this year, instead by nations from the Mercosur bloc (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, with Chile.
