Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) partnered with Accenture to digitally transform its lending business.
The collaboration includes a cloud-native lending platform with digital workflows for application, loan processing, credit underwriting and decision- making, disbursement and loan servicing. A machine learning-based decision engine is also used for risk mitigation.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami won from the Champawat bypoll by a margin of over 55,000 votes.
He had earlier lost from Khatima assembly constituency in the Uttarakhand Assembly Polls 2022 even though BJP won a clear majority in the state. This was a crucial victory for the Chief Minister to win the bypoll to retain the Chief Minister post.

The world’s largest plant- the ribbon weed (Posidonia australis) has recently been discovered off the West Coast of Australia.
It is a sea-grass which is measured to be 180 km in length. Ribbon weed rhizomes can usually grow to around 35cm per year and with this, the scientists arrived at its lifespan of 4,500  years. It has double the number of chromosomes than other similar plants, and managed to survive the volatile atmosphere of the Shark Bay.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently signed deals worth 1.3 billion Canadian dollars to settle a Blackfoot tribe’s land claim.
The 1.3 billion Canadian dollar (USD 1 billion) settlement is one of the largest agreements of its kind reached in Canada. It aims to correct the mistakes dating back over a century when Canadian government broke promise and wrongfully took half of Siksika Nation’s reserve land to sell to settlers.

The World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5, to raise awareness about degrading environmental conditions and environment protection.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the nodal agency that organises and supports events across the world. The year 2022 marks the 50th World Environment Day. Sweden is the host of the event this year and the theme is ‘Only One Earth’. It was the motto for the 1972 Stockholm Conference

UIDAI has announced that it would provide IPPB postmen with the necessary digital devices such as a desktop or laptop-based Aadhar kit to update the necessary details of Aadhar card holders.
UIDAI also plans to onboard over 13,000 banking correspondents currently working with the Common Service Centre (CSC) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

NATO launched the two-week United States-led naval exercise on the Baltic Sea with more than 7,000 sailors, airmen and marines from 16 nations.
Finland and Sweden, who have applied to join the military alliance, also participated in the event. The annual BALTOPS naval exercise was initiated in the year 1972.

National Asset Reconstruction Company (NARCL) is a special purpose asset reconstruction company (ARC) set up to take over the large value NPA accounts (above Rs 500 crore) from banks.
The Finance ministry said the Rs 6,000-crore National Asset Reconstruction Company (NARCL) is expected to take over the first set of non-performing accounts of banks next month. The remaining accounts are proposed to be taken over within the third quarter of the current financial year.

Tokyo Paralympics champion Avani Lekhara secured a spot at the 2024 Paris Paralympics after winning the gold medal in the Para Shooting World Cup in women’s 10m air rifle in France.
The 20-year-old female shooter broke her own world record of 249.6. Another para-shooter Sriharsha Devaraddi (male) won Gold in Mixed 10m Air Rifle with 253.1 points
