Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the national portal for credit-linked government schemes named ‘Jan Samarth Portal’.
Jan Samarth Portal is a one-stop digital portal linking government credit schemes, to connect beneficiaries to lenders. It provides people with the right government benefits through simple and easy digital processes.

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved the procurement of military equipment and platforms worth Rs 76,390 crore from domestic industries.
The DAC approved manufacture of Dornier aircraft and Su-30 MKI aero-engines by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). It also approved next-generation corvettes (NGCs), at an estimated cost of around Rs 36,000 crore for Indian Navy. DAC also approved ‘Digital Coast Guard’ project.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the enhancement of funding under Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme to 50 crore rupees per project from 10 crore rupees.
In Union Budget 2022-23, 25 per cent of defence R&D budget was earmarked for private industry, start-ups and academia. The TDF scheme supports indigenous development of products and technologies by MSMEs and start-ups.

The 2nd edition of ‘Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning’ (DSDP) was organised in New Delhi, by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Top 30 districts were awarded for their innovative best practices in skill development in the region. Rajkot in Gujarat, Cachar in Assam and Satara in Maharashtra respectively were ranked at the top. DSDP Awards were instituted under the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) Scheme.

In its latest World Investment Report, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) said FDI inflows to India declined to USD 45 billion in 2021 from USD 64 billion in the previous year.
India’s rank jumped one place to 7th position among top recipients of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the 2021 calendar year even though the FDI inflows into the country is declining. The United States (USD 367 billion) remained the top recipient of FDI.

India’s ace chess player R Praggnanandhaa won the Norway Chess Group A open chess tournament after scoring 7.5 points from 9 rounds.
The 16-year old Grand Master and the top-seed, remained unbeaten through the nine rounds. World Champion Magnus Carlsen emerged as the winner of the Norway Chess 2022, and clinched his fourth straight title.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Sant Tukaram Shila Mandir in the temple town of Dehu in Pune.
The Bhakti saint Sant Tukaram sat on this piece of rock referred to Shils for 13 days when challenged about the authenticity of the Abhyangs he had written. The rock has been the starting point of Wari, the annual pilgrimage for the Warkari sect in Maharashtra.

For the first time, Scientists used satellite data to detect a major offshore leak of methane, from an oil and gas production platform in the Gulf of Mexico that spewed 40,000 tonnes over a 17-day period.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), fossil fuel operations emitted about 120 million tonnes of the planet-warming gas in 2020, nearly one-third of all methane emissions from human activity.

UN’s General Assembly proclaimed 13 June as International Albinism Awareness Day with effect from 2015.
The day is marked every year to bring about awareness among the people about albinism and the rights of people with albinism. It is a congenital disorder that occurs due to absolute or partial absence of a pigment in the skin, eyes and hair. The theme for the year 2022 is “United in making our voice heard”.

Retail inflation based on Consumer Price Index eased to 7.04 per cent in May from 7.79 per cent in April this year.
As per the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation data, inflation slipped mainly due to easing prices in Food & Beverages and Fuel & light sections. Food & Beverages have a weight of more than 54 percent in Consumer Price Index.
