Tata Projects will build the national capital region’s new airport at Jewar, after outbidding the Shapoorji Pallonji Group and Larsen & Toubro for the contract.
Tata Projects will construct the terminal, runway, airside infrastructure, roads, utilities, landside facilities and other ancillary buildings at the Noida International Airport. The new airport is expected to be functional by 2024.

NATO launched the two-week United States-led naval exercise on the Baltic Sea with more than 7,000 sailors, airmen and marines from 16 nations.
Finland and Sweden, who have applied to join the military alliance, also participated in the event. The annual BALTOPS naval exercise was initiated in the year 1972.

A multinational peacekeeping exercise- Ex Khaan Quest 2022 commenced recently in Mongolia. Military contingents from 16 countries including India are participating in the exercise.
As per India’s Defence Ministry, Indian Army is represented by a contingent from the Ladakh Scouts. The 14-day exercise will enhance the level of defence co-operation among participating countries.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang declared Blue Duke the state butterfly, on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Blue Duke whose scientific name is ‘Bassarona durga durga’, is endemic to Sikkim and the eastern Himalayas. Blue Duke falls in Schedule 2 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and is a protected species in the Himalayas. As many as 720 species of butterflies are found in Sikkim.

‘Blue Origin’ is an American aero-space company founded by Jeff Bezos, the founder and executive chairman of Amazon in the year 2000.
Blue Origin has successfully completed its fifth human spaceflight that sent six people to suborbital space. The crew was called as ‘New Shepard NS-21’.

Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decided to hike the Policy Repo Rate by 50 basis points to 4.9 per cent in its June 2022 meeting.
The MPC members voted unanimously to hike rates and to continue the withdrawal of the accommodative stance. RBI’s MPC last month raised the repo rate by 40 basis points. Real GDP forecast for FY23 has been retained at 7.2% while inflation projection was revised for FY23 to 6.7 %.

The Central Government has amended service rules of the armed forces six months after General Bipin Rawat, India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, died in a helicopter crash.
As per the new rules, all three-star and four-star officers from the three services under the age of 62 eligible for the post of CDS. It also includes those who retired in the last two years. The CDS is the most senior uniformed officer in rank. The only four-star officers in the country are the CDS, the chiefs of the tri-services.

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved a proposal for signing a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on cooperation in the field of industries and advanced technologies.
The MoU will lead to growth of these sectors, increased domestic production, enhanced exports and reduction in imports.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched an accidental insurance cover of Rs 15 lakh for government employees in the Union territory.
Jammu and Kashmir Bank will extend the new insurance cover which also includes terrorism attacks. The free group personal insurance cover is extended to all permanent employees in association with the Oriental Insurance Company. The LG also launched the Jammu and Kashmir Bank’s ‘Phone Pe Loan’ facility for government employees.
