Notes:
The Tamil Nadu government is to provide free data cards of 2 GB per day to college students to enable them attend online classes till April 2021.
The data cards will be provided to over 9 lakh students studying in government and aided Arts and Sciences colleges, engineering colleges and polytechnic institutions. The Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) will implement the scheme for self-finance college students.

Notes:
The Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry is to spend over Rs 1,200 crore, to create infrastructure for safe movement of wildlife on National Highways.
Infrastructure including construction of underpasses on the Nagpur-Jabalpur National Highway passing through the Pench National Park and at Gadchiroli-Chandrapur and Chimur-Vadodara highways.

Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is to organise ‘Prarambh’ – Startup India International Summit, on 15 and 16 January 2021 in a virtual format.
The summit is expected to bring together top policy makers, academia, industry, start-ups and innovators from around the world.

Notes:
The International Coordinating Group on Vaccine Provision (ICG) – which includes WHO, UNICEF, International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) have established a stockpile of Ebola vaccine.
The stockpile is located at Switzerland and the vaccines are kept ready to be shipped to countries for emergency response.

The nation’s premier think tank NITI Aayog has partnered with e commerce major Flipkart, to launch the revamped Women Entrepreneurship Platform.
This is seen as an effort to enhance the community experience for women entrepreneurs in India. This portal brings together women from different parts of India to realize their entrepreneurial aspirations.

As per the recent announcement of the Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane, women will be inducted as Pilots in the Army Aviation Corps from next year.
Prior to this, women were being allotted only ground duties in the Army Aviation Corps. Women pilots would fly helicopters and be part of operations at the borders.

The Cabinet Committee of Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cleared a proposal for procurement of 83 LCA Tejas Aircrafts at a cost of Rs.48,000 crore.
These aircrafts are designed and manufactured by the state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The contract between the Indian Air Force and HAL is likely to be signed by March 2021.

The traditional kite flying festival of Bangladesh Shakrain was celebrated in several parts of Dhaka on Thursday.
This is a centuries old tradition that is celebrated on the last day of Bengali month of Paush. On this occasion, people engage themselves in kite flying and fireworks among many other recent additions like ‘DJ Party’.

The Prime Minster of India Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project (Phase-II) and Surat Metro Rail Project.
The Metro Projects are said to be environment friendly ‘Mass Rapid Transit Systems’. The Prime Minister also flagged off 8 trains connecting Kevadiya in Gujarat, where the Statue of Unity is located, to various parts of the country.

The Prime Minster of Netherlands Mark Rutte along with the entire cabinet of Ministers have stepped down from power, taking responsibility for a scandal involving investigations into child welfare payments.
Earlier, thousands of families were wrongly accused of child welfare fraud and told to pay money back to the government.
