Notes:
The Ministry of health and family welfare recently said in a notification that all medical devices sold in the country would be treated as drugs and would be regulated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1940, from April 1, 2020.
As of now, only 23 medical devices are being categorised as drugs. Only a few of these including cardiac stents and intrauterine devices have been brought under price control. The decision was taken after discussing with the Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB).

Notes:
The state government of Uttar Pradesh has recently launched toll-free helpline numbers for students. This initiative is aimed at solving queries of students ahead of the Board Examinations.
A senior officer of Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad is designated as Nodal Officer of the initiative. Several academicians and experts of different subjects will be made available on call, to resolve the doubts of students.

Arvind Kejriwal led- Aam Aadmi party won 62 seats out of the total 70 seats in the Delhi assembly elections. Arvind Kejriwal is set to become the Chief Minister of Delhi for the third time. The Bharatiya Janata Party got the remaining 8 seats.
Aam Aadmi party (AAP) MLAs chose Arvind Kejriwal as the leader of the legislature party and he is set to claim to form the next government in Delhi.

Notes:
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched the ‘Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana’ in 2019, through TRIFED. It aims at creating livelihood for tribal people by using the forest produce. Van Dhan Kendras are set up to add branding and packaging their products.
Recently, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Arjun Munda inaugurated the “Workshop on Van Dhan and Entrepreneurship Development” organized by TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India).

Notes:
The Union Cabinet approved the amendment of the Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Bill, 2020, so that it also covers the litigations pending in debt recovery tribunals (DRTs) across the country. The scheme can be availed in search and seizure procedures, where the recovery is up to ₹5 crore.
Vivad se Vishwas Bill, 2020 is aimed at providing resolution of disputed direct taxes. More than ₹9-lakh crore of direct taxes is pending in litigation in India.

Indian ace boxer Amit Panghal was seen in news, as he has been ranked first by the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Boxing Task Force ahead of next month’s Olympic Qualifiers.
With this, Amit became the first Indian boxer to be ranked first, in more than a decade. Before Amit, Vijender Singh was ranked first in 2009. The IOC Task force will conduct the Olympic qualifiers and the main event in Tokyo, as the International Boxing association is currently suspended.

Notes:
Hydrographic Survey Ship, INS Jamuna of Indian Navy is set to conduct detailed hydrographic surveys in Sri Lanka for next two months. The ship has arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka in this regard.
Several shore-based survey activities are also set to be carried out over the deployment period of 2 months. The personnel of Sri Lanka Navy personnel will be provided training during the hydrographic survey. Harbour training programme for the Sri Lankan sailors is also to be organised.

Scientists at the Rochester Institute of Technology Scientists recently discovered an exo-planet, which is closer to Earth than any other planet. The newly discovered planet named ‘2MASS 1155-7919 b’ is only 330 light years away from the earth.
It is spotted by the scientists beyond our solar system and the findings were published in Research Notes of the American Astronomical Society.

The 56th edition of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) has recently commenced in Germany’s southern city, Munich. The theme of this year’s conference is selected to be “Westlessness”.
Indian External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar has represented India in the conference. More than 500 international leaders, including 35 heads of state and as many as 100 Foreign and Defence ministers have gathered in the city, to discuss current security crises and challenges

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries in association with the Ministry of Women and Child Development is to organise ‘Organic food festival’ in New Delhi, in this month.
The two Union ministries have recently signed an agreement in this regard. The festival is expected to assist the women entrepreneurs in organic food sector to connect with government schemes and include them in the global market.
