Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya recently announced that the Ministry is developing Industrial Cluster-cum-Logistics Park at Sahibganj, a town in Jharkhand. India’s second riverine Multi Modal terminal was also inaugurated at Sahibganj in September 2019.
A Freight village is also being developed by the Ministry at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The establishments being developed at Sahibganj and Varanasi entail a project cost of Rs.200 Crores.

The subsidiary of Indian Railways, IRCTC is set to launch its third corporate passenger train Kashi Mahakal Express on the Varanasi-Indore Route. It is a premium train to be run by IRCTC, that will connect three temples namely Omkareshwar temple near Indore, Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain and Kashi Vishwanath temple of Varanasi.
After Tejas Express trains, which are being run on the Lucknow-Delhi and Ahmedabad-Mumbai routes, this is the third private train which will be operated to connect religious places of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

The 9th edition of the Joint exercise between the armies of India and Bangladesh, SAMPRITI recently concluded at Umroi, Meghalaya. The two-week exercise was held from February 3 to 16, 2020.
The personnel of the two countries shared their experiences on counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism operations and disaster management techniques. The exercise helped to strengthen ties between India and Bangladesh, and mutual operability between the armies.

‘GulFood 2020’, the world’s largest annual food and beverage trade exhibition is being held in the Dubai World Trade Centre city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), form February 16 to 20.
In the 25th edition of the exhibition, more than 5000 exhibitors are to participate. The Indian pavilion at the exhibition was recently inaugurated by the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries-Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

The Election Commission of India was awarded ‘Silver’ award for ‘Excellence in Government Process re-engineering for Digital transformation’ from the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), during the 23rd National Conference on e-Governance held at Mumbai.
The award is presented to ECI for its portal ERO-NET. The portal uses a mechanism to effectively enter an applicant in E-roll. It is used for various functions like processing of forms, easy handling of the databases and maintenance of E-Rolls.

Reliance Industries Ltd topped the domestic market capitalisation chart with Rs. 9,42,422.58 crore. It is followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, Hindustan Unilever Ltd and HDFC.
Recently, eight of the 10 most valued Indian companies together added Rs. 1.09 trillion to their market capitalisation. Except HDFC and HDFC bank, the other top-10 companies augmented their market valuation. ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Finance in the top-10 list, increased their m-cap higher.

Veteran Kannada actor Kishori Ballal recently passed away at the age of 82. She was known for starring with Shah Rukh Khan in his movie -Swades as ‘Kaveri Amma’.
She made her acting debut during 1960 in the movie ‘Ivalentha Hendathi’ and has acted in more than 75 movies of different Indian languages. The artist had been acting for more than 50 years and starred in several Bollywood films too.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Soil Health Card (SHC) Scheme on 19th February, 2015 at Suratgarh in Rajasthan. Fifth year of the launch of the scheme is being observed on the ‘Soil Health Card (SHC) Day’, this year.
The scheme aims at issuing soil health cards to all farmers every two years. The card would provide details about the nutritional deficiencies in soil, so that the farmers can supplement the soil with suitable fertilizers and increase the yields.

Notes:
Pakistan recently successfully flight tested the air-launch of nuclear-capable cruise missile Ra’ad-II. The missile has a striking range of 600 km.
The Ra’ad-II weapon system comprises of world-class navigation systems for better precision. Last month, Pakistan successfully conducted a successful training launch of surface-to-surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi.

Notes:
Ashraf Ghani is an independent politician. The recent elections were held in September, 2019 and their result was declared in February, 2020. As per results, Ghani was re-elected with 50.64% of the vote.
