As of 2020, Vietnam is largest Cashew exporter of the world. That country mostly exports cheap Cashew to China and gives stiff competition to India. India mostly imports from African countries.

Recently, BIMSTEC and South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration jointly organized the conference titled ‘Increase Cooperation in the Energy Sector in BIMSTEC Region.’ The BIMSTEC members are planning for a 3000 km BIMSTEC power grid called BIMSTEC grid interconnection. The MoU was signed in 2018.

Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ presented Vishwakarma Awards 2019 to the winners in New Delhi on February 24, 2020. The awards function was organised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Chatra Vishwakarma Awards (CVA) were given to students and mentors. Institutes were felicitated under the Utkrisht Sansthan Vishwakarma Award (USVA). The awards were started by AICTE in 2017 for promoting innovative spirit and scientific temperament.

The ‘Central Excise Day’ is celebrated every year in India on February 24. The day is celebrated to encourage the employees of excise department to perform their duties more efficiently.
Various seminars, workshops and cultural events are organized all over the country, to mark the event. It is also observed to commemorate the Central Excise and Salt Act, which was enacted on February 24, 1944.

Ashok Chatterjee, who recently passed away at the age of 78, was a former India footballer. He was a part of the Indian football team, which won bronze-medal in the Merdeka Cup in 1965 and 1966.
He made his international debut in the Merdeka Cup in 1965. Ashok Chatterjee has appeared in nearly 30 matches, representing the senior national team.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Walt Disney Company commonly called as Disney, Bob Iger recently tendered his resignation.
He has served as the CEO of the US-based multi-national mass-media company from 2005. Under his leadership, the company successfully purchased Star Wars, Marvel and Fox’s entertainment businesses. Bob Chapek is to replace Iger as the next CEO. Iger will be the executive chairman till 31 December 2021.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) recently notified that 100 per cent FDI is allowed in insurance intermediaries under automatic approval route.
The FDI policy earlier allowed 49 per cent foreign investment in the insurance sector, including insurance intermediaries. Intermediary services comprise of insurance brokers, re-insurance brokers, insurance consultants, third party administrators, loss assessors etc.

The Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank recently launched a programme called ‘Higher Education Leadership Development Programme for Administrator’.
It is a joint initiative of University Grants Commission (UGC) and British Council under the support of UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI). The main objective of the programme is to train the senior and middle level administrators in Indian Universities.

The Union cabinet recently approved the amendment of the ‘Laccadive, Minicoy and Amindivi Islands Land Revenue and Tenancy Regulation, 1965’.
The amendment was made to confer occupancy rights to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) population in the union territory of Lakshadweep. The UT is said to have a large population of tribal people, who do not have occupancy rights.

Maria Sharapova, a five-time Grand Slam champion and former WTA World No.1 has recently announced her retirement from professional Tennis.
The 32-year-old Tennis icon from Russia has won 36 WTA titles and held WTA World No.1 rank for continuous 21 weeks. She won her first Grand Slam at the age of 17, when she won the Wimbledon title in 2004. She had also won her Career Grand Slam.
