The insurance regulator IRDAI has set up a committee to examine whether life insurers can offer indemnity based health policies. IRDAI has now set up a nine-member committee led by MR Kumar, Chairman, Life Insurance Corporation of India to look into the issue.

Recently, BIMSTEC and South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration jointly organized the conference titled ‘Increase Cooperation in the Energy Sector in BIMSTEC Region.’ The BIMSTEC members are planning for a 3000 km BIMSTEC power grid called BIMSTEC grid interconnection. The MoU was signed in 2018.

The Mobile Training Team of the Australian Border Force conducted the training course on ‘Vessel Search Technique’ for the personnel of Indian Coast Guard, Customs and Coastal Security Group members of the Tamil Nadu Police.
Indian Coast Guard organised this training course at the capital of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, along with the Border Force of Australia.

Great Place to Work, an international workplace-culture expert conducted the survey from 33,000 employees at the certified organisations across the US.

The Meeting of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors from G20 nations was recently organised in Riyadh from February 22-23, 2020.
The delegates from across the world attended the meeting, which focussed on maintaining the growth of global economy amid the negative effect of Corona virus in China and some countries.

The Chinese smart-phone manufacturer Realme recently introduced India’s first 5G-enabled smartphone, which is named as ‘Realme X50 Pro’.
The flagship smartphone was also simultaneously launched in Spain. The phone can switch to 5G when is outside India via ‘Smart 5G’, as 5G is not completely available in India, yet. It can be still used in 4G mode, till it is introduced.

The world’s second youngest Grandmaster, India’s 13-year-old D. Gukesh has recently won the Cannes Open Chess Tournament, held in Cannes, France.
He defeated Harutyun Bargseghyan of France in the final round and scored 7.5 points. The Tamil Nadu player remained unbeaten in the tournament and had defeated the top-seeded Chongsheng Zeng of China. Gukesh had earlier won the Hillerod 110th Anniversary Open event in Denmark.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Walt Disney Company commonly called as Disney, Bob Iger recently tendered his resignation.
He has served as the CEO of the US-based multi-national mass-media company from 2005. Under his leadership, the company successfully purchased Star Wars, Marvel and Fox’s entertainment businesses. Bob Chapek is to replace Iger as the next CEO. Iger will be the executive chairman till 31 December 2021.

As per the recently released ‘Hurun Global Rich List 2020’, China is home to the highest number of billionaires of the world.
The report placed Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos in the top rank, who possesses wealth amounting to $140 bn. Microsoft Founder Bill Gates is in the third spot, while Mukesh Ambani was placed in the 9th place with $67 bn. He is the only Indian to feature in the Top-10 list and he is the richest in Asia.

The Union cabinet recently approved the amendment of the ‘Laccadive, Minicoy and Amindivi Islands Land Revenue and Tenancy Regulation, 1965’.
The amendment was made to confer occupancy rights to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) population in the union territory of Lakshadweep. The UT is said to have a large population of tribal people, who do not have occupancy rights.
