A Kerala start-up has delivered the Akasha300 3D printer to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), boosting India’s self-reliance in advanced manufacturing. It is a high-temperature, multi-material extrusion 3D printer designed for industrial and research use. It is supported by the Space Technology Innovation and Incubation Centre at Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) and Kerala Startup Mission. It uses dual-extrusion technology and can operate up to 350°C, with future upgrades to 500°C. It has a modular design allowing multiple extrusion systems and hybrid manufacturing.

Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, a prominent Bengali scholar and social reformer, founded the Bengali weekly newspaper Som Prakash (also spelled Shome Prakash) in 1858. It served as a platform for advocating widow remarriage, women’s education, and social reforms against orthodox practices. Vidyasagar used it to promote progressive ideas, influencing public opinion during the Bengal Renaissance. Historical records confirm his role as editor and founder, distinguishing him from others: Dayanand Saraswati founded Arya Samaj, Raja Rammohan Roy started Sambad Kaumudi, and Surendranath Banerjee launched The Bengalee.

Jai Prakash Narayan escaped from Hazaribagh Jail in Bihar (now Jharkhand) during the Quit India Movement in 1942. The escape occurred on Diwali night, November 8-9, with five companions including Yogendra Shukla and Suraj Narayan Singh. The jailbreak involved scaling the wall amid reduced jail guards during the festival. Sources confirm Hazaribagh Central Jail as the site of the escape, not Ranchi, Bhagalpur, or Dhanbad jails.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully completed User Evaluation Trials of the Akash Next Generation (Akash-NG) missile system. Akash-NG is a modern Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) defence system developed by DRDO and produced by Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL). It is designed to protect vital areas from enemy air attacks. It is the advanced successor of the Akash missile. The new version is lighter and more advanced. It uses an indigenous Radio Frequency (RF) seeker, dual-pulse solid rocket motor, and fully indigenous radars with Command, Control, and Communication (C2) systems.

A new species of damselfly named Protosticta sooryaprakashi has been discovered in the Western Ghats of India. It is also called the Kodagu Shadowdamsel and was found in Kodagu district of Karnataka. The species is named in honour of Dr. Sooryaprakash Shenoy, a famous botanist. It has bright sky-blue markings and a very slender body, making it the thinnest in its group. It lives in cool, shaded, low-light areas and needs a clean environment to breed. Its presence shows a healthy and low-pollution ecosystem.

India has recently proposed the supply of the Akash missile system to Brazil, during Defence Minister’s talks with Brazilian Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin in New Delhi. Akash is a short-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system. It is designed to protect vulnerable areas and assets from aerial threats like fighter jets, drones, helicopters, and cruise missiles. It was indigenously developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The missile is produced by Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) in Hyderabad. It is currently in service with both the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian Army.
