President Murmu marks four years in office with new initiatives at Rashtrapati Bhavan
President Droupadi Murmu launched multiple public-centric and green initiatives at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 28 July 2026 to mark four years in office. Rashtrapati Bhavan is the official residence of the President of India in New Delhi. The President’s Estate also includes Rashtrapati Niketan in Dehradun and Rashtrapati Nilayam in Secunderabad, which function as presidential retreats and official facilities.
Accessibility and Public Interface
The application-based e-Audio Guide for Rashtrapati Bhavan is available in Hindi, English, and 14 other Indian languages. It also includes a sign-language module, which is used for accessibility for visitors with hearing-related needs. The Rashtrapati Bhavan Access and Heritage Interconnector, or RAAHI, is a fare-free electric bus service for staff and residents. It is operated by women drivers and conductors and connects the estate with the nearest Metro station.
Public Outreach and Green Initiatives
The third edition of e-Upahaar features 300 curated Presidential gifts for online public auction. The auction is scheduled from 5 August to 5 September 2026. Bachpan Bal Parisar was inaugurated for children living in the President’s Estate. It includes Kilkari, a play zone, and Samarth Anganwadi-cum-Palna, which is a child-care and nurturing facility. A foundation stone was laid for a new service block under the Net Zero Energy Strategy at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The strategy is linked with energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in the presidential complex.
