NEET PG 2023: Supreme Court dismisses Plea
NEET is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. The National Testing Agency conducts the NEET-UG and the National Board of Examinations conducts the NEET-PG. NEET–UG is for MBBS and NEET-PG is for MD. The recent issue on the NEET exam is around the postponement of the exam. Few medical students have appealed to the SC asking for the postponement of NEET.
What is the issue?
The NEET-PG 2023 was scheduled on March 5, 2023. The internship cutoff date in some states was first fixed on Jan 7, then on June 30, and now it has been extended to August 11. During internships, MBBS graduates work full-time and gain practical experience. According to them, if the NEET-PG 2023 is held on March 5, they will not have enough time to prepare for the exam. So they are asking to postpone the exam.
The accusation made on NBE
The National Board of Examination that conducts the NEET – PG 2023 has issued notice without consulting the State Medical Councils. Also, the NBE modified the eligibility criteria twice.
More than 2 lakh students have applied for NEET and it will affect their preparations.
SC Judgement on NEET – PG 2023
SC dismissed the petitions to postpone NEET – PG 2023. The exam is to be held as planned on March 5, 2023.
