The Pacific island nation of Nauru has officially adopted the name Republic of Naoero. The change was confirmed by President David Adeang on 31 July 2026 after a constitutional amendment was passed by the parliament in May 2026.

The government dropped plans for a national referendum and treated Naoero as the existing identity of the people rather than a new name requiring public approval.
