Mysuru Dasara Drone Show Sets Guinness World Record
On 18 October 2026, a Mysuru Dasara drone display set a Guinness World Records title for the largest aerial display of a bird formed by multirotors or drones. The formation depicted a dancing peacock, India’s national bird, using 3,473 drones at the Torchlight Parade Ground in Bannimantap, Mysuru, Karnataka.
The record-setting drone formation
The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) and the Energy Department of the Government of Karnataka organised the display. Delhi-based BotLab Dynamics carried out the drone flight. Guinness World Records officials from London attended the event to verify the record and presented the certificate to CESC.
The 2026 show also formed a lion, a butterfly, a soldier holding the Tricolour, Goddess Chamundeshwari, the Ambari elephant, the map of Karnataka, Lord Vishnu’s Sudarshana Chakra, and Lord Shiva with Nandi. BotLab Dynamics is an IIT Delhi-incubated company and has performed drone shows at Mysuru Dasara for five consecutive years.
How drone light shows form images
Drone light shows use specialised software to assign each drone a position and flight path. The drones move in synchrony to form shapes and patterns in the sky. Lights carried by the drones can change colour, allowing a formation to display multiple colours and designs.
BotLab Dynamics set a Guinness World Records title in 2025 by forming a jumping tiger with 2,983 drones during Mysuru Dasara. The company’s 2026 peacock formation used 490 more drones than that earlier display.
Mysuru Dasara and its cultural symbols
Mysuru Dasara is an annual festival in Karnataka associated with royal processions, cultural events and illuminated landmarks. Goddess Chamundeshwari is among the figures represented in the festival’s drone formations. The peacock is India’s national bird, while the Tricolour is India’s national flag.
The 2026 drone shows were also scheduled for 17, 20 and 21 October. More than 40,000 people attended inside the venue, with another 20,000 outside; reported footfall was 154% higher than in 2025.
