BRICS is an intergovernmental grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and it has expanded its agenda to include finance, trade and payment systems. A closed-door roundtable of 250 principals is scheduled for 12 September 2026 to discuss non-dollar settlement corridors and a proposed “Sovereign Capital Compact”.

Investment Themes and Payment Systems

The transaction-oriented sessions will focus on matching sovereign wealth funds, public pensions and family offices with projects in infrastructure, technology, critical minerals and energy transition. The summit will also address the integration of national fast-payment networks, including India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Brazil’s Pix, with Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs).
