India Registers 200 Outright T20 International Victories
India became the first men’s cricket team to record 200 outright victories in T20 Internationals on 24 October 2026. The landmark came with a four-wicket win over New Zealand at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, and also marked India’s 300th men’s T20 International appearance.
India’s T20I record
India had reached 200 total T20I victories on 22 September 2026, after defeating Japan by two runs in a rain-curtailed match in Sano. That earlier tally included five Super Over wins and one Bowl-out success, whereas the 24 October milestone counted outright victories. As of 25 October 2026, India’s record stood at 200 wins, 83 losses, seven tied matches and 10 no-results from 300 T20 Internationals. Its winning percentage was 71.1%, the highest among ICC Full Member nations.

New Zealand set India a target of 181 runs at Hagley Oval. India recovered from 70 for five wickets, with Tilak Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy adding an unbeaten 69 runs for the seventh wicket. Varma scored 47 not out, while Reddy made 26 not out from 13 balls. The partnership established an Indian record for the seventh wicket or lower in men’s T20 Internationals. T20 International format
A T20 International, commonly abbreviated as T20I, is a cricket match between national teams played under the Twenty20 format. Each team is allotted a maximum of 20 overs to bat in an innings, subject to applicable playing conditions. A tied T20I may be decided by a Super Over, in which each team bats for one over. A Bowl-out is another tie-breaking method used in some earlier limited-overs competitions.
