IAEA Blocks Mohammad Eslami From Vienna Conference

Mohammad Eslami, Iran’s Vice President for Nuclear Affairs and head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, was blocked from attending the International Atomic Energy Agency General Conference in Vienna on 14 September 2026. Austria denied him entry after a sanctions waiver request to the United Nations sanctions committee failed to secure consensus.

International Atomic Energy Agency General Conference

The IAEA General Conference is the annual meeting of the agency’s 180-plus member states. The conference is held at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria, and it deals with nuclear safeguards, nuclear safety, nuclear security, and technical cooperation.
