Gujarat Launches Samras Vidyasetu Dropout Campaign

Gujarat launched the statewide Samras Vidyasetu Mega Campaign on 22 July 2026 from Ahmedabad to re-enrol more than 80,000 school dropout children in classes 1 to 12. The campaign is linked to the state’s stated goal of achieving “Zero Dropout” through school re-entry, tracking, and retention measures.

Samras Vidyasetu Campaign Framework

The Samras Vidyasetu campaign includes identification of dropout children, re-enrolment in schools, contact with parents, home visits, mentoring, and bridge courses. These measures are used for children who have left formal schooling and need academic support before regular classroom attendance.

Shala Praveshotsav and School Enrolment Drive

Gujarat launched the 24th edition of its annual Shala Praveshotsav on 25 June 2026 from B.N. High School in Vadnagar. Shala Praveshotsav is the state’s school enrolment drive for bringing children into the formal education system at the beginning of the academic cycle.

Technology-Based Tracking in School Education

The Education Department used an Artificial Intelligence-based Early Warning System at Vidya Samiksha Kendra in Gandhinagar to identify 1,18,234 students at risk of leaving school in 2026. The Child Tracking System, an online platform covering more than one crore students in over 54,000 schools, re-enrolled 90,212 children who had previously dropped out, and it is being integrated with the Early Warning System.

Recent Re-enrolment Data and Education Indicators

Under the Back to School Mission, Gujarat re-enrolled 29,451 students between 10 and 12 July 2026, including 14,875 boys and 14,576 girls, with Banaskantha district as a major focus area. UDISE+ 2025-26 data placed Gujarat in the education ministry’s red zone for secondary education, with a dropout rate of 15.7 per cent against the national average of 9.5 per cent.
