Haney Sets Javelin World Record at Asian Para Games

Indian para-athlete Haney won gold in the men’s javelin throw F37/38 event at the 2026 Asian Para Games in Nagoya, Japan, on 23 October 2026. His final-attempt throw of 60.49 metres set a world record.

Javelin event results

Haney’s event combined athletes from the F37 and F38 sport classes, with final standings determined by Raza points. Iran’s Hormoz Seidikazpounji won silver with a throw of 50.68 metres. China’s Yu Chengjie won bronze with an Asian-record throw of 53.66 metres. Haney’s 2026 Asian Para Games results also included a bronze medal in the men’s F37 discus throw. Javelin and discus are field events in para athletics, while track events include running and wheelchair racing.

Para-athletics classifications

The letter “F” in F37 and F38 denotes a field-event classification; “T” denotes a track classification. F37 is a standing class for athletes with moderate coordination impairments, while F38 is for athletes with mild coordination impairments. The F37/38 event groups two sport classes in one competition. Raza points provide a points-based method for ranking performances across classes in a combined event. The final standings in this event were therefore determined by points rather than throw distance alone.
