Anup Singh, who is a 1985-batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre, has been appointed as Director-General of the National Security Guard (NSG). His appointment will be from the date of joining the post and up to 30th of September, 2020. The NSG was raised in 15th October 1984 for combating terrorist activities with a view to protect states against internal disturbances.

India will host the 91st Interpol General Assembly in the year 2022 after a proposal received the overwhelming support of member countries at the 2019 congregation at Santinago in Chile. The 91st Interpol General Assembly (IGA-2022) will be held as part of celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence. Based in Lyon, France, Interpol (International Criminal Police Organisation) has 194 member states and 100 years of experience of international cooperation in policing.  The organisation has 90-million records spread across 17 databases.

Kalidas Karmakar (73), an internationally acclaimed painter of Bangladesh, has passed away in Dhaka on 18th October 2019. Kalidas was prolific in using new mediums and style for his art work while maintaining his signature style. He called his work alluvial art meaning the art of the delta land which gave expression to the precarious nature of the alluvial land and its people, their struggles and hopes. Karmakar also experimented with performance art which combined artist’s body as an object of art along with his paintings.

The Baliyatra is one of the biggest trade fairs of Odisha i.e. scheduled to begin on November 12. The 8-day trade fair will be jointly organized by the Cuttack District Administration, District Cultural Council, and the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).

In Washington DC, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman led the Indian delegation at G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors as well as the BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meetings on the side-lines of the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings. The focus of discussions in the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting was on the current challenges to the global economy and possible responses to mitigate them.
