Earthshot Prize 2026 Makes India Debut in Mumbai

The Earthshot Prize 2026 will take place in Mumbai on November 16–17, 2026, marking the award’s first event in India. The sixth annual Awards Night is scheduled for November 17. The city was announced as the host during the inaugural Mumbai Climate Week on February 17, 2026.

The Earthshot Prize and its environmental goals

The Earthshot Prize was launched in 2020 by Prince William to support solutions to environmental challenges. Its five award categories are Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate. Each category addresses a distinct area of environmental action.

Five finalists are selected for each annual prize cycle, and each winner receives £1 million to accelerate an environmental solution. India has had seven finalists, including four winners, more than any other country.

Prize categories and Indian participation

The categories cover nature protection, air quality, ocean recovery, waste reduction and climate action. The prize recognises solutions across these areas, and the financial award is intended to support their further development. The 2026 Mumbai programme includes a Summit before the Awards Night.

The Serum Institute of India is the principal sponsor of the 2026 Summit. The gathering is scheduled to bring together environmental and business leaders, investors, and philanthropists.

Mumbai events and international broadcast

The Awards Night programme includes performances by British pop group Take That, singer Shreya Ghoshal and music composer Shashwat Sachdev. Filmmaker Karan Johar is scheduled to host the ceremony. Expected attendees include Sachin Tendulkar, Alia Bhatt, Rami Malek, Sonam Kapoor and Simone Ashley.

Prime Video will stream the Awards Night globally to audiences in more than 240 countries and territories, in over 40 languages.
