DPCC Inaugurates Integrated Pollution Monitoring Centre
The Delhi Government inaugurated the Integrated Command and Control Centre of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee at Shastri Park in Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the centre on 1 October 2026, and the facility is designed for pollution monitoring across Delhi and the National Capital Region.
Integrated pollution monitoring system
The centre uses Artificial Intelligence, CCTV surveillance, GPS tracking, and body cameras for monitoring and enforcement. More than 700 construction sites will be monitored round the clock, and auto-alerts will be generated when PM10 levels rise.
PM10 refers to particulate matter with a diameter of 10 micrometres or less. It is one of the standard indicators used in air quality monitoring in Indian cities.
Graded Response Action Plan and enforcement
The centre is linked to the Graded Response Action Plan, commonly known as GRAP, which is used in the National Capital Region during severe air pollution episodes. GRAP-4 includes measures such as restrictions on construction activity, limits on truck entry, and closure of schools in extreme situations.
Body cameras have been made mandatory for Vayudoot teams and DPCC officers during inspections. Mechanical road sweeping machines will also be GPS-mapped to verify their routes and functioning.
Citizen reporting and inter-departmental coordination
The centre will send real-time alerts to 78 sub-divisional teams for action on pollution hotspots. Digital verification of field outcomes will be used for follow-up and record-keeping.
A Jan Sujhav Portal has been launched for public reporting of pollution, complaint filing, and submission of ideas. The portal is a citizen interface for environmental grievance redressal and participation.
