Dibrugarh Sends First International Cargo from Bogibeel to Bangladesh
Dibrugarh in Assam sent its first international cargo shipment from the Bogibeel Terminal to Bangladesh on 5 October 2026. The cargo vessel DLB Patkai carried 540 metric tonnes of methanol produced by Assam Petro-Chemicals Limited at Namrup and was bound for Pangaon Port in Dhaka.
Bogibeel Terminal and River Route
The vessel is scheduled to travel about 1,300 km from Bogibeel in Dibrugarh to Narayanganj in Dhaka. The route uses National Waterway-2 on the Brahmaputra River and the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route, which is a designated inland water transport corridor between India and Bangladesh.

Assam Petro-Chemicals Limited is a state-owned company based at Namrup in Assam. Methanol is an industrial chemical used in the manufacture of formaldehyde, acetic acid, solvents, and fuel blends.

The resumption of international cargo movement at Bogibeel was enabled by customs and immigration complexes at Bogibeel and Dhubri. River trade from Dibrugarh had ceased around 1956, and the present voyage marks the revival of international freight movement from the region after nearly 70 years.
