Amazon announced its first solar project in India with three new solar farms in Rajasthan, with a combined energy capacity of 420 megawatts (MW).
Amazon aims to use 100% renewable energy across its business by 2025. The Indian project includes a 210-MW project to be developed by ReNew Power, a 100-MW project to be developed by Amp Energy India, and a 110-MW project to be developed by Brookfield Renewable Partners.

Defence Ministry signed deal for dual role Surface-to-Surface BrahMos missile with BAPL (BrahMos Aerospace Pvt. Ltd)
The additional dual –role (land and anti-ship) capable BrahMos missiles will be acquired at Rs 1,700 crore under ‘Buy-Indian’ category. BrahMos Aerospace (BAPL) is a joint venture between India and Russia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the National Conference of Environment Ministers in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat.
The two-day conference will have six thematic sessions with topics focusing on LiFE, Combating Climate Change ; PARIVESH -Single Window System for Integrated Green Clearances ; Forestry Management ; Prevention and Control of Pollution; Wildlife Management ; Plastics and Waste Management.

The Breakthrough Prizes was created in 2010 by a group of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, including a venture capitalist Milner, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, of Facebook and Sergey Brin of Google.
The 2023 winners of the Breakthrough Prizes, also known as the ‘Oscars of Science’ were announced recently in the life sciences category, one for mathematics and one for physics. The winners will split a total of more than USD 15 million.

India’s Public sector lender UCO Bank is the first bank to receive the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) approval for rupee trade.
The Kolkata-based bank will open a special vostro account with Gazprombank of Russia for trade settlement in Indian rupees. In July, RBI announced its decision to allow Indian banks to settle trade in Indian currency in July. RBI also allowed trade settlements between India and other countries, including Sri Lanka and Russia.
