In the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2023, India is ranked 111 out of 125 countries, indicating that its progress in combating hunger has stagnated since 2015. With a score of 28.7 in the 2023 Global Hunger Index, India has a level of hunger that is classified as ‘serious’.
Afghanistan, Haiti, and 12 sub-Saharan countries have fared worse than India on the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2023.

Notes:
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on October 10 made an upward revision in its fiscal year 2023-24 growth forecast for India. The country is likely to grow at 6.3 percent, instead of 6.1 percent as projected in the previous forecast.
Earlier, the World Bank in October retained India’s growth forecast at 6.3 percent, citing the robust services activities. In September, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) also predicted India to grow at 6.3 percent.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday inaugurated the 82-km Padma Bridge Rail Link, the country’s largest infrastructure project built under China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
The project is estimated to cost Taka 39,246.80 crore, with the Exim Bank of China providing a loan of Taka 21,036.70 crore.

UNICEF’s worldwide learning-to-earning program, Passport to Earning (P2E), has successfully trained and certified over one million young individuals in India, focusing on areas such as financial literacy and digital productivity.
It focusses on providing them with crucial skills and pathways toward achieving financial independence.

The second spaceport of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), will come up in about two years at Kulasekarapattinam in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu.
It will be dedicated exclusively for Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs) developed by the private sector. About 2,000 acres has been acquired and handed over to ISRO.
