Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the President of the 14th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP14 President). The event was held at New Delhi in 2019.
Recently, PM Modi is set to address a high-level virtual dialogue on desertification, land degradation and drought at the UN. The event will be convened by the President of the 75th session of the General Assembly, Volkan Bozkir.

The Indian Government has introduced the ‘Project O2 for India’ to tackle the medical oxygen demand after Covid 19 second wave.
Under the project, a National Consortium of Oxygen would enable the national level supply of critical raw materials. It includes setting up of small oxygen plants, manufacturing compressors, oxygen plants, concentrators, and ventilators among others.

Naftali Bennett has been selected as the new Prime Minister of Israel, after Benjamin Netanyahu lost his 12-year-old tenure.
Netanyahu, who was Israel’s longest serving Prime Minister, is on trial for fraud. He fell short of obtaining majority support after the general election in March this year. Yair Lapid is expected to replace Bennett as PM after two years.
