As per the recent study of the think tank PRS Legislative Research (PRS), Kerala held the most number of sittings of the State Assembly in 2021 at 61 days.
Between 2016 and 2019, it remained at the top with an average of 53 days. Kerala is followed by Odisha with 43 sitting days, Karnataka with 40 days and Tamil Nadu with 34 days.

The Maldivian president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih arrived India on a four-day visit. India and Maldives signed six pacts to enhance bilateral ties in the fields of trade, defence and cyber security.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced a USD 100 million financial aid for infrastructure development of the island nation.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar recently launched the ‘Chief Minister Equal Education Relief, Assistance and Grant (Cheerag)’ scheme.
It aims to provide ‘free education’ to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) students of government schools in budget private schools. Under the scheme, government school students whose parents have an annual verified income of less than Rs 1.8 lakh can enroll in private schools.

The telecom operator Vodafone Idea Ltd. (VIL) launched ‘Ready for Next program’ through its Vi Business arm.
The program aims to help 2.5 lakh MSMEs in their journey of digital transformation. MSME sector makes 30 per cent contribution in the GDP of India and has an employment basket of 110 million Indians.

Indian women lawn bowls team created history at 2022 Commonwealth Games by winning the first-ever gold in the sport.
It was also the first ever medal for India in the sport. Lovely Choubey, Pinki Singh, Nayanmoni Saikia and Rupa Rani Tirkey clinched  gold, beating South Africa 17-10.

Karnataka government launched the ‘Punyakoti Dattu Yojana’ portal for adopting cows. The scheme aims for providing nutrition and care for the cows.
Over 1300 people have donated to goshalas (cow shelters). 123 shelters are registered on the Punyakoti Dattu Yojana portal across the state and registration of 60 centres is in progress, as per the state animal husbandry Ministry.

Amazon India has partnered with Indian Railways to boost its delivery services in the country. It was also the first online delivery company to engage with the Indian Railways to build an express transportation product through rail networks in 2019.
Through this partnership, Amazon will be able to transport packages on more than 110 inter-city routes, and provide one to two-day delivery for its customers.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das-chaired Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) raised the repo rate by 50 basis points (bps) to 5.40 percent.
The decision was taken to tame persisting high inflation. After the decision, the repo rate is above pre-pandemic levels of 5.15 percent. The overall rate hike in three successive policy meets has gone to 140 basis points.

China fired ballistic missiles and deployed fighter jets and warships as it began its largest-ever military exercises around Taiwan, a show of force
This was commenced as retaliation to the visit of the US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s to the island. Pelosi was the highest-profile US official to visit Taiwan in years. The Taiwanese cabinet said the drills would disrupt 18 international routes passing through its flight information region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 7th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi. The Prime Minister is the ex-officio Chairperson of the think tank.
The meeting aims to create synergies towards collaboration between Centre and States and Union Territories. The Chief Ministers and LGs presented best practices from their States on four agenda items including crop diversification and achieving self-sufficiency in oilseeds, pulses and agri-commodities, implementation of the National Education Policy and urban governance.
