Chhattisgarh Signs Two PM GatiShakti Pacts
Chhattisgarh signed two Memorandums of Understanding with the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics and National Logistics Data Services Ltd on 20 August 2026 in Raipur. The agreements relate to geospatial technology, logistics analytics, and the PM GatiShakti framework for infrastructure planning.
PM GatiShakti Framework
PM GatiShakti is a national master plan for multi-modal connectivity launched by the Government of India in 2021. The platform uses Geographic Information System-based data layers for coordinated planning across sectors such as roads, railways, ports, airports, and utilities.
Chhattisgarh has integrated more than 35 state departments into the PM GatiShakti platform. The state has also mapped 41 mandatory data layers and more than 600 additional data layers for GIS-based planning.
Institutions Involved in the MoUs
BISAG-N is a central government institution based in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and it works in geospatial applications, remote sensing, and digital mapping. National Logistics Data Services Ltd is associated with logistics data integration and digital analytics for supply-chain planning.
The MoUs were signed during the PM GatiShakti and LEADS 2025 Dissemination Workshop in Raipur. The workshop was jointly organised by the Department of Commerce and Industries of Chhattisgarh and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
State-Level Applications of GIS Planning
Chhattisgarh has developed 45 practical use cases and 30 analytical tools under the platform. These tools are used for data-based administrative planning and infrastructure coordination.
The state is using GIS-based mapping to identify road accident black spots, villages without banking services, and bus routes under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Parivahan Yojana. The new digital infrastructure is also planned for logistics and cargo aggregation hubs in the Raipur-Bhilai-Durg industrial belt.
