Andhra Pradesh Launches Farm to Home Model

Andhra Pradesh Launches Farm to Home Model

Andhra Pradesh has directed the implementation of a “Farm to Home” model for direct delivery of agricultural produce from farmers to consumers. The model covers fruits and vegetables and uses Farmers Producer Organisations for marketing, logistics, and doorstep supply.

Farm to Home Model

The “Farm to Home” model is a farm marketing arrangement in which produce moves from farmer groups to consumers with fewer intermediaries. Farmers Producer Organisations are collective institutions of farmers that pool produce, improve bargaining power, and support market access.

Related Agricultural Measures

The state has also asked officials to prepare region-wise crop plans and promote natural farming. Minimum Support Prices are government-declared floor prices for selected crops, and they are used in India to provide price support to farmers for notified commodities. Officials have been asked to expand agricultural mechanisation, increase the use of drones and farm machinery, and integrate services through a Farmer App. Rythu Bazaars are retail markets for farmers in Andhra Pradesh, and the Digi Rythu Bazaar app is a digital platform linked to agricultural marketing.

The region has been proposed as a horticulture hub under the ₹40,000-crore Purvodaya scheme, which is a development initiative associated with eastern India and related regional growth projects. A Cocoa City is planned near Yadavolu in East Godavari district, which is one of the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh.
