Directorate General of Civil Aviation
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation or DGCA is a regulatory body in the civil aviation sector, headquartered in New Delhi. It is one of the 3 regulatory bodies that are to be made statutory under the 2020 bill. It is concerned with safety oversight and regulation under the bill.
Bureau of Civil Aviation Security
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security or BCAS is an attached office under the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. It is the implementing body for the security components of Chicago Convention. Its function is to regulate the security aspects of the civil aviation sector.
Aircraft Accidents Investigation Bureau
The Aircraft Accidents Investigation Bureau or AAIB is concerned with investigation of aviation accidents in India. It functions under the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. The 2020 bill, by giving statutory status to these bodies, would make them more efficient in their functions.
