25 Crore OPD Registrations Turn Digital

The National Health Authority marked 25 crore digital outpatient department (OPD) registrations under the QR-code-based Scan and Register service of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission on 7 August 2026. The service operates across 30,800 healthcare facilities in 36 States and Union Territories and 756 districts of India.

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is India’s national digital health framework launched in 2021. It uses digital health IDs, health records, and interoperable systems for patient registration, record sharing, and facility-level integration.

Scan and Register Service

The Scan and Register service is a QR-code-based facility for digital OPD registration. It was launched in October 2022 as Scan and Share and later expanded under ABDM for faster patient registration and ABHA profile sharing.

Facility Coverage and State Data

Of the 30,800 participating healthcare facilities, 24,323 are public institutions and 6,481 are private facilities. Bihar recorded more than 7.30 crore Scan and Register transactions, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 4.09 crore, Andhra Pradesh with 3.38 crore, and Jammu and Kashmir with 1.39 crore.

• AIIMS New Delhi recorded more than 54.29 lakh digital OPD registrations.
• AIIMS Bhopal recorded 29.10 lakh registrations, while AIIMS Bhubaneswar recorded 23.93 lakh registrations.
• AIIMS Patna recorded 19.62 lakh registrations, and AIIMS Raipur recorded 18.63 lakh registrations.
• Nearly 4 lakh patients use the service daily to share ABHA profiles and complete registration digitally.

ABHA and Digital Health Records

ABHA stands for Ayushman Bharat Health Account and functions as a digital health identifier under ABDM. It is used to store and share health records in a standardised digital format across participating facilities.

National Health Authority

The National Health Authority is the apex body for implementing Ayushman Bharat schemes at the national level. It manages ABDM and related digital health infrastructure in India.
