Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2024 Announced

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the four recipients of the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2024 on 2 September 2026. The awards recognise achievements in land adventure, water adventure, and lifetime contribution to adventure sports in India.

Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards

The Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards are national-level honours for adventure sports in India. The awards are named after Tenzing Norgay, the mountaineer associated with the first successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953 with Edmund Hillary.

2024 Awardees and Categories

Baljeet Kaur received the Land Adventure award for becoming the first Indian to scale five 8,000-metre peaks in a single season. Skalzang Rigzin received the Land Adventure award for becoming the first Indian to summit Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen or Sherpa support. Rimo Saha received the Water Adventure award for achievements in national and international para-swimming competitions. Shiv Prasad Chamoli received the Lifetime Achievement honour for contributions to winter sports and adventure sports promotion.

Award Components and Presentation

Each awardee will receive a bronze statuette, a certificate, a blazer with a silken tie or saree, and a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh. President Droupadi Murmu will present the honours at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, along with the National Sports Awards 2025 ceremony.
