Telangana Launches AI-Powered Emergency Response System 112
Telangana Police launched the NextGen Dial-112 Emergency Response Support System, also called the AI-enabled Telangana Emergency Response Support System (TG-ERSS), on 5 August 2026 at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGiCCC) in Hyderabad. The upgraded platform integrates 18 emergency services under the national emergency number 112 and uses artificial intelligence for call filtering, incident prioritisation, smart routing, and voice-to-text transcription.
National Emergency Number 112
Dial 112 is India’s single emergency number for police, fire, ambulance, women’s safety, child protection, and disaster response services. The number 112 is part of the Emergency Response Support System framework used in several states and union territories for unified emergency access.
AI Features and Call Handling
The TG-ERSS platform uses intelligent filtering to remove duplicate and non-emergency calls. It also uses AI-based severity classification, smart call routing, and voice-to-text transcription for faster call processing. The upgraded system reduced call centre processing time from 190 seconds to 133 seconds, which is a reduction of nearly 30%.
Drone Integration and Response Network
Telangana became the first state in India to integrate drone technology with its emergency response system. AI-enabled drones have been deployed as first responders on a pilot basis in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, and Future City Commissionerates. The system operates 24/7 with 164 trained personnel and 900 Session Initiation Protocol-based communication channels.
Important Facts for Exams
- Telangana’s average emergency response time is about 10 minutes and 30 seconds across the state.
- The national average emergency response time is about 18 minutes.
- Urban areas in Telangana record an average response time of about six minutes.
- Rural areas in Telangana record an average response time of about 15 minutes.
Location Tracking and Infrastructure
The system uses Location-Based Services, Advanced Location Services, and Google Maps integration to identify the location of about 94% of callers. The migration of Dial 100 operations to government-owned infrastructure at the TGiCCC has increased operational control and integrated the older police helpline with Dial 112.
