Sitakant Mahapatra Report
The government is examining the Sitakant Mahapatra Report and a report given by Union Public Service Commission, UPSC in order to take a decision on the inclusion of Bhojpuri language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution. Sitakant Mahapatra on the issue had submitted its report in 2004 but a final decision was yet to be taken.
Union Home Minister Mr. Chidambaram acknowledged the fact that there was “no established set of criteria” for inclusion of languages in the Eighth schedule.
