Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR–CMFRI), Kochi will host the 7th India International Seaweed Expo and Summit 2026 on 29–30 January 2026. It is jointly organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce, CMFRI, and CSIR–Central Salt Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI). It is one of the largest global seaweed industry gatherings. The first International and 31st Annual Conference of Sahodaya School Complexes opens at Grand Hyatt Dubai as the first global edition of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) platform. More than 1,000 school leaders and educators join under the theme “Rooted in Wisdom, Rising with Vision: Reimagining Education through National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.” The conference promotes global collaboration, NEP 2020 implementation, innovation in teaching, and holistic education. 106 CBSE schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and 213 in the Gulf serve 2.5 lakh students. From 2026–27, CBSE introduces standard and advanced levels from Class 9 and launches CBSE Global Curriculum 26.

The Regional Conference on Environment – 2025 was held in Chennai on 6th and 7th December 2025. It was organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) Zonal Bench, Chennai. The conference was inaugurated by Justice M.M. Sundresh, Judge, Supreme Court of India, along with senior judges and Tamil Nadu ministers. It brings together judges, experts, administrators, academicians and civil society to strengthen environmental protection and sustainable development. Three technical sessions cover environmental law and biodiversity, solid and biomedical waste management, and coastal zone challenges.

Union Home & Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated EARTH Summit 2025 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. He launched 13+ new services under ‘Sahakar Sarathi’, including Digi KCC, Campaign Sarathi, Website Sarathi, Cooperative Governance Index, ePACS, World’s Largest Grain Storage Application, Shiksha Sarathi, Sarathi Technology Forum. Summit is the second of three EARTH Summits focusing on strengthening rural economy and framing result-oriented solutions for rural development, with final policy framework in Delhi next year. The first edition of the Earth Summit 2025 was held in Hyderabad.

The 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit was held in New Delhi and marked the 25th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership signed in 2000. The partnership was upgraded to a Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership in 2010 to deepen long-term cooperation. Both countries adopted the Programme for the Development of Strategic Areas of India–Russia Economic Cooperation till 2030 to diversify trade beyond energy and defence. Leaders set a target to raise bilateral trade to 100 billion US dollars by 2030 from 68.7 billion dollars in 2024–25. Fast-tracked negotiations began for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Eurasian Economic Union to ease trade in goods and services.

India is hosting the Second World Health Organization (WHO) Global Summit on Traditional Medicine from December 17 to 19 in New Delhi. The summit is jointly organised by WHO and the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, under the theme “Restoring balance: The science and practice of health and well-being.” It brings together global policymakers, scientists, practitioners, Indigenous knowledge holders, and civil society leaders to shape holistic health and well-being.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the fifth National Conference of Chief Secretaries. It was held in New Delhi from December 26–28, 2025. The theme is “Human Capital for Viksit Bharat,” focusing on developing citizens as human capital rather than just a demographic dividend. The conference aims to strengthen Centre–State cooperation and create a unified roadmap for inclusive, future-ready growth.

The National Textiles Ministers’ Conference 2026 has been inaugurated in Guwahati, Assam, organised by the Ministry of Textiles in collaboration with the Government of Assam. The theme of the two-day conference is “India’s Textiles: Weaving Growth, Heritage & Innovation”. It brings together Textile Ministers and senior officials from States and Union Territories to deliberate on policy, investment, sustainability, exports, infrastructure, and technological advancement in textiles. The conference aims to strengthen Centre–State collaboration and create a roadmap for a competitive, sustainable, and inclusive textile sector.

India has assumed the BRICS chairmanship for 2026, with Brazil formally handing over the presidency. India will host the 18th BRICS Summit in 2026. The chairmanship is based on four pillars: Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Environmental Stability or Sustainability. India will push for reform of global governance institutions, stressing reform, not replacement, to reduce Western dominance. India aims to strengthen Global South leadership and promote a multipolar world order. It will project Digital Public Infrastructure as a scalable development model for the Global South.

The Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, inaugurated the Third International Conference on Indian Languages in New Delhi. The Conference was organised by Vaishvik Hindi Parivaar, Antarashtriya Sahyog Parishad, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, and the Department of Bharatiya Bhasha, University of Delhi. Indian languages have strengthened national unity and preserved a shared civilisational ethos and common Dharma. The Eighth Schedule of the Constitution recognises India’s linguistic diversity, affirming that national unity depends on mutual respect, not uniformity.
