Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla inaugurated the 11th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Conference at Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru. The three-day conference theme is “Debates and Discussions in the Houses of Legislature, building people’s trust, meeting people’s aspirations.” The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is an international platform of nearly 180 Commonwealth Parliaments and Legislatures. Shri Om Birla serves as the ex-officio Chairperson of the CPA India Region Executive Committee. India is the 9th Region of the CPA and includes 31 State and Union Territory branches.

Recently, the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference was inaugurated in Kolkata. The event, held once every two years, is the apex-level brainstorming forum of the Armed Forces. The theme for 2025 is ‘Year of Reforms – Transformation for the Future’, focusing on modernisation and transformation. The Armed Forces were appreciated for Operation Sindoor, nation building, anti-piracy, evacuation of citizens from conflict zones, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions. Instructions were given to achieve Jointness, Atmanirbharta (self-reliance), and Innovation in defence. The conference will review operational readiness, past reforms, global uncertainties, and plan a roadmap for future challenges.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the two-day national conference MANTHAN 2025 in New Delhi on 18 September. The event is organised by the Directorate General of Defence Estates. Theme of conference is Strategic Roadmap to Aatmanirbhar Bharat @2047. Focus areas include re-imagining defence land management, using advanced digital tools, strengthening governance, and ensuring sustainability. The inaugural session highlighted achievements of the Defence Estates Department in defence land governance. A strategic roadmap to Viksit Bharat by 2047 was also presented.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in 2027. Authorities have been directed to begin preparations in Islamabad for the event. The next SCO Summit in 2026 will be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. SCO is a permanent intergovernmental regional organisation focusing on political, economic, and security cooperation in Eurasia. The organisation promotes the “Shanghai Spirit”, which emphasises mutual trust, benefit, equality, and peaceful coexistence.

Recently, India announced it will host the third Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit on 19–20 February 2026. The event will be organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) with focus on inclusive development, sustainability, and equitable growth. The summit’s logo, unveiled on 18 September, features the Ashoka Chakra with neural network patterns, symbolising AI’s impact across sectors. The summit continues the series of global AI meets after the 2025 AI Action Summit in France, 2024 in South Korea, and 2023 AI Safety Summit in the UK.

India hosted the BIMSTEC Young Leaders’ Summit in Guwahati, Assam, from September 9–11, 2025. The event was organised with Bharat Scouts and Guides and inaugurated by Assam Governor. More than 80 participants from all BIMSTEC countries joined, representing politics, business, socio-cultural and civil society sectors. The summit highlighted India’s North East as a land bridge for Bay of Bengal connectivity. It is part of the 21-point action plan announced at the 6th BIMSTEC Summit and aligns with Neighborhood First, Act East, and Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions (MAHASAGAR) visions.

The 11th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) was held on 2nd October 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It brought together over 3,300 participants from more than 30 countries. The theme was “Innovating for Impact: Accelerating the Future of the Green Economy.” Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) were highlighted as key for sustainable technologies. The Arab Foundations Forum launched the first Arab Regional Climate Commitment. Nearly 80 international speakers addressed renewable energy, circular economy, and accountability. The Global Alliance on Green Economy (GAGE) unveiled its 2024-2025 flagship initiatives.

The World Health Summit (WHS) 2025 is held from October 12-14 in Berlin, Germany. The theme is “Taking Responsibility for Health in a Fragmenting World.” The summit features over 70 sessions with high-level global health experts. World Health Summit (WHS) 2025 serves as a platform to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and drive actionable health initiatives globally.

The Uttarakhand AI Impact Summit 2025 was inaugurated on October 17, 2025, at Hotel Ramada, Dehradun, organized by the Government of Uttarakhand with the India AI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). It serves as a pre-summit to the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, to be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event was graced by Shri Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for MeitY and Commerce & Industry. The summit aims to promote responsible AI-driven growth, innovation, and entrepreneurship, supporting Digital Uttarakhand and India’s vision of “AI for All.”

The Election Commission of India (ECI) organised a two-day Conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) at the India International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar presided over the conference. The conference assessed the Offices of the CEOs of all States and Union Territories (UTs) for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise nationwide. The conference followed the SIR preparedness meeting held last month, where States and UTs presented elector data and electoral roll updates.
