India launched its first ‘Guide to Grasslands and Other Open Natural Ecosystems (ONEs)’ at the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) of United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). COP17 was hosted in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, with discussions focusing on land degradation, drought and desertification. The guide aims to support the identification, understanding and conservation of open natural ecosystems in India.

Sagar Samvad 2026 conference was held in August 2026 in New Delhi to discuss the future of India’s maritime and shipping sector. The conference was hosted by the National Shipping Board (NSB) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW). India announced plans to add 100 new vessels to its merchant fleet over the next five years. The initiative aims to reduce India’s dependence on foreign shipping companies and address the $75 billion foreign freight bill. The two-day International Conference on Voter Registration and Voter Registers 2026 concluded at NUSRL, Ranchi, jointly organised by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand and Central University of Jharkhand. The conference also examined electoral rights of marginalised sections and voter-registration systems in Australia, Canada, Estonia, Sweden, Ghana and South Africa. Experts highlighted the use of Digital Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in voter registration and electoral-roll management.

The inaugural International Space Summit was held on 9–10 September 2026. The summit took place at the Grand Palais in Paris, France. It was championed by French President Emmanuel Macron and co-chaired with international partners. Nearly 120 foreign delegations from around 90 countries participated. Participants included heads of state, ministers, space agencies and private-sector leaders. Nearly 50 new partnerships and joint agreements were announced on the first day. These agreements were estimated to be worth around €20 billion. A major focus was space sustainability and security.

The conference is organised under the aegis of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA). The International Conference on “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics” was organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The two-day conference was held on 19–20 September 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
