Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla inaugurated the 11th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Conference at Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru. The three-day conference theme is “Debates and Discussions in the Houses of Legislature, building people’s trust, meeting people’s aspirations.” The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is an international platform of nearly 180 Commonwealth Parliaments and Legislatures. Shri Om Birla serves as the ex-officio Chairperson of the CPA India Region Executive Committee. India is the 9th Region of the CPA and includes 31 State and Union Territory branches.

Chennai will host the 5th Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) in 2027, the golden jubilee year of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The three-day summit will include an International Coast Guard Fleet Review and a World Coast Guard Seminar. It will serve as a global platform to discuss emerging maritime challenges and promote international maritime cooperation. The decision was taken unanimously at the 4th Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) in Rome on September 12, attended by delegates from 115 countries and organisations.

Recently, the Lok Sabha Speaker inaugurated a two-day National Conference on the Parliamentary and Legislative Committee on Empowerment of Women in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The conference highlighted the creation of several opportunities supporting women’s development. A law ensuring 33% reservation for women in legislatures was underlined as a key step toward empowerment. The conference concluded by adopting the ‘Tirupati Resolution’. The Tirupati Resolution outlined a roadmap for advancing women’s education, health, safety, dignity, and self-reliance toward Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the two-day national conference MANTHAN 2025 in New Delhi on 18 September. The event is organised by the Directorate General of Defence Estates. Theme of conference is Strategic Roadmap to Aatmanirbhar Bharat @2047. Focus areas include re-imagining defence land management, using advanced digital tools, strengthening governance, and ensuring sustainability. The inaugural session highlighted achievements of the Defence Estates Department in defence land governance. A strategic roadmap to Viksit Bharat by 2047 was also presented.

The second African Climate Summit (ACS2), held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from September 8-10, 2025, focused on accelerating climate action and mobilizing finance for Africa’s green and resilient development. Key outcomes include the adoption of the Addis Ababa Declaration, which calls for major investments in renewable energy and critical minerals, and the launch of the Africa Climate Innovation Compact and African Climate Facility to support African-led climate solutions. The summit also aimed to present Africa as a “continent of solutions” and was a crucial step ahead of COP30.

Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2025 will be held on 30–31 October 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. It is the world’s largest rice event, bringing together farmers, global buyers, and stakeholders. The conference will showcase India’s rice diversity, quality standards, and strengthen business-to-business (B2B) linkages. The event aims to accelerate India’s vision to double agriculture and agri-based exports in the next five years.

The 12th Sustainable Mountain Development Summit (SMDS-XII) was held at Doon University, Dehradun on 26 September. Sustainable Mountain Development Summit is a flagship annual summit addressing ecological, economic, and social challenges of the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR). It is organised by the Integrated Mountain Initiative (IMI), a civil society-led network. The aim is to promote sustainable Himalayan development, strengthen community participation, and blend science with traditional wisdom.

Union Minister Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh addressed the 2nd Global Conference on Sustainable Livestock Transformation. The conference was held at Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Rome, Italy. He highlighted India’s farmer-centric initiatives, innovations, and transformations driving inclusive growth in the livestock and dairy sector. India serves as the First Vice Chair of the FAO Sub-Committee on Livestock. The livestock sector supports nearly two-thirds of rural households and millions of small farmers, many being women. India is the world’s largest milk producer, second-largest egg producer, and a leading buffalo meat exporter.
