The conference, organized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), aimed to address drug trafficking and its impact on national security. Amit Shah launched the Drug Disposal Fortnight and inaugurated the new office complex of the Bhopal Zonal Unit of NCB. He also extended the MANAS-2 helpline to all 36 states and Union Territories. The conference focused on tackling drug trafficking in eight northern Indian states and union territories.

The 3rd National Mines Ministers’ Conference is held in Konark, Odisha, on January 20-21, 2025, under the “Vikasit Bharat 2047” vision. Union Coal and Mines Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy presides over the event, with Odisha CM Shri Mohan Charan Majhi as Chief Guest. A report on states’ best mining practices will be released to improve transparency and efficiency. The Mining Tenement System (MTS) Module will be launched for digital governance in mining. Sanction letters will be handed to startups promoting sustainable mining innovation. Geological data and critical mineral block reports will be transferred to boost exploration and self-reliance.

India is preparing to host the 2036 Olympics, focusing on sustainable sports infrastructure. The first International Olympic Research Conference will be held at Rashtriya Raksha University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat from January 27-30, 2025. Organized by the Indian Olympic Association, the event aims to address financial challenges and create a sustainable roadmap for hosting the Olympics.

Karnataka is hosting the 6th edition of the international millets festival 2025 in Bengaluru from January 23. More than 300 millet product manufacturers and farmer organizations will showcase their products. A symposium on “Transformation of agrifood systems through agri-ecology” will be held, with experts from 10 countries. The event is in collaboration with GIZ Germany and FiBL Switzerland. Karnataka, a major producer of nutri cereals, grows millets on 18.37 lakh hectares. Ragi, jowar, and bajra are the major millets grown in the state, with minor millets covering 0.31 lakh hectares.

The first Raisina Middle East Conference was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on 28-29 January 2025. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar was the Chief Guest. Dr. Jaishankar visited the UAE from 27-29 January 2025. This was his third visit to the UAE since his reappointment in June 2024. The Raisina Dialogue is India’s top conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics. The event was organised by the Observer Research Foundation, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and India’s Ministry of External Affairs. The conference brought together policymakers, academics, media, and business leaders to discuss regional and global integration.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai led the Indian delegation to the 4th No Money for Terror (NMFT) Conference. The conference was held in Munich, Germany on 13th February 2025. The conference covered terror financing, financial inclusion, risk-based approaches, and organized crime. More than 200 officials and experts from the Egmont Group and international organizations attended. Previous conferences were held in Paris (2018), Melbourne (2019), and New Delhi (2022).

The 2nd All India State Water Ministers Conference was held in Udaipur, Rajasthan, on 18-19 February 2025. It was organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. The conference aimed to adopt effective water management strategies and ensure water security. The theme was “India@2047 – Water Secure Nation”, aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed and water-secure India.

The Asia Economic Dialogue (AED) is an international geoeconomic conference. It is organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Pune International Centre (PIC). It is one of the three key Track 1.5 dialogues supported by the MEA. The 6th edition is held in Pune from February 20 to 22, 2025. The theme is “Economic Resilience and Resurgence in an Era of Fragmentation.”

A two-day conference on women peacekeepers in UN missions began in New Delhi, titled “Women in Peacekeeping: A Global South Perspective.” The event is organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Defence, and the Centre for UN Peacekeeping. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar delivered the keynote address. The UN was represented by Jean-Pierre Lacroix and Christian Saunders. Women peacekeepers also met with President Droupadi Murmu. The conference focused on peacekeeping technology, training, and regional collaboration from the Global South’s viewpoint.
