The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is one of the oldest organisations in the Commonwealth, established in 1911. The Association comprises over 180 legislatures (branches) across nine geographic regions of the Commonwealth. Union Minister Bhupender Yadav recently launched the website and logo for the 1st International Big Cat Alliance Summit 2026 in New Delhi. The International Big Cat Alliance is an inter-governmental organisation headquartered in India for the conservation of seven big cat species: Lion, Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Cheetah, Jaguar, and Puma. India will host the first IBCA Summit on 1 June 2026 in New Delhi with participation from Heads of State, policymakers, scientists, and conservation experts from around the world. The summit will be organised under the theme “Save Big Cats, Save Humanity, Save Ecosystem.”

Representatives from over 50 countries gathered in Santa Marta for the First International Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels. The conference was co-hosted by Colombia and Netherlands. Participating countries represented nearly 50% of the world’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The conference emerged from dissatisfaction with slow negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conferences of the Parties (COPs). It aimed to create practical national and international roadmaps for transitioning away from fossil fuels toward renewable energy systems.

Fruit Horizon 2026 was organised at ICAR–Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture in Lucknow. A joint task force involving Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), exporters, and scientists will be formed to solve export issues and increase farmers’ income. Under the Clean Planting Material Program, a modern Clean Plant Centre is being set up at CISH, Lucknow to develop disease-free planting material for mango, guava, litchi, and avocado crops. The conference stressed the importance of premium-quality fruits, zero rejection standards, better storage, processing, and export infrastructure.

The 52nd All India Sainik Schools Principal’s Conference was inaugurated by Sanjay Seth at Sainik School Kazhakoottam in Kerala on 7 May 2026. The conference focused on academic excellence, institutional performance, policy discussions, and future reforms for strengthening the Sainik School system. Sainik School Nagrota received the Raksha Mantri Trophy for sending the highest number of cadets to the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Indian Naval Academy (INA) in 2025. Under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the government aims to establish 100 new Sainik Schools, out of which 86 have been approved and 79 are operational.

India’s first International Ophthalmology Research Conference was organised at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi on 9–10 May 2026. The conference is organised by the Department of Ophthalmology at Army Hospital (Research and Referral) in collaboration with the All-India Ophthalmological Society.
