India has assumed the BRICS chairmanship for 2026, with Brazil formally handing over the presidency. India will host the 18th BRICS Summit in 2026. The chairmanship is based on four pillars: Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Environmental Stability or Sustainability. India will push for reform of global governance institutions, stressing reform, not replacement, to reduce Western dominance. India aims to strengthen Global South leadership and promote a multipolar world order. It will project Digital Public Infrastructure as a scalable development model for the Global South.

IndiaAI, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and the Government of Uttar Pradesh hosted the Uttar Pradesh Regional AI Impact Conference 2026 in Lucknow on 12–13 January 2026. The Conference aims to showcase the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in governance and public service delivery and to align state-level initiatives with the IndiaAI Mission. It serves as a precursor to the IndiaAI Impact Summit 2026, which will be held in New Delhi from 16–20 February 2026. India is hosting the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) in New Delhi from 14–16 January 2026. The three-day conference brings together Speakers and Presiding Officers from over 60 Commonwealth countries and semi-autonomous Parliaments. The aim is to promote knowledge and understanding of parliamentary democracy and develop parliamentary institutions. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is the Chairperson of the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC).

The All India Spices Exporters Forum (AISEF) will host the 9th International Spice Conference (ISC 2026) from 23–26 February 2026 in Kochi, Kerala. The 4-day conference theme is “Spice 360 – Getting Future Ready,” focusing on global spice industry growth, innovation, and resilience. ISC 2026 is a global platform for policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and innovators across the spice value chain. The two-day Regional Level Conference of Labour & Employment and Industry Secretaries of States/UTs was held in Jaipur on 14 January 2026. The conference is the second of five regional meetings organized to facilitate the implementation of the four Labour Codes and address issues related to Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), and Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY). The three-day conference (19-21 January) brings together presiding officers, secretaries, and representatives to discuss legislative procedures, parliamentary traditions, House conduct, good governance, and current legislative issues.
